Great photos Paddy. However a little too modern for my taste I drove a 110 for Horace Ransome and that was a lovely lorry. ( I nearly said truck ) That had a fixed wardrobe and a black rubber interior which polished up well. Must go. Matron says its time for my afternoon nap. Regards Charlie.
Quick Paddy while it’s stopped hit it with some red and blue paint !! With a little white stripe in between !! Don’t worry about it drying , it’ll dry as Terry goes up the road with it !!
Hope alls good !

Hi all
That would be a nice find for me Charlie a 110, 111, 140 or 141 in the old colours would love to find one would be a nice thing to have.
Still these are vintage enough the one on the back is nearly 30 year old!
Hi Jim hope your well mate?
Thats the plan mate while she’s stripped, I got a lot of 3 series spares with it to, so can keep the F reg maintained once she is painted she should look like KOW.
You never know being a tag she might get used now and then
Regards paddy

Looks like dad was home ! What was it with all those flags ! I’ve still got those name plates !
Use to love coming down yard on a Saturday ! I remember him getting that brand new so I would have been 12 !

Hi Ian,
Few years ago now, Jim kept that motor spotless, hope you and him are ok,let me know how he is,see you in Brighton one day for a pint
Regards
Richard
That’s the one Jim
Trying to find a head board for it aswell would be nice to see the 2 like that!
Hopefully will get it done soon, and hoping to get a shed built in the yard so can keep them both covered and keep the cabs safe.
Plus where she is a tag and has a higher ratio diff she will be a bit better on fuel then the F reg! as that’s double drive with a low ratio diff the fuel is quite bad
Like I said, might run her as well as show her
Be sad seeing dads parked up, it’s bin a great truck! But we have always got it for a rainy day, plus that will look good done up aswell and will be a tribute for him
Regards
Paddy

Good morning chaps, wonder if anyone can help me? Does anyone have any info on HWL 972S, a Volvo F12 of M.J & G.R Davies? It was a six wheel unit, and I have a picture of it with a container on that I would like to use in a photo book I am having published very soon. Any info on the truck, or a possible drivers name would be great, I need to write captions with each picture, and although I can lift a bit of info about Davies off their web site I’d like to have a little that not everybody knows for added interest. Many thanks in advance. Nick.

one for you container boys, this picture is another I’d like to use, for obvious reasons can’t post the whole picture, it’s of a Molo of Southampton Scania, but I’m interested in the strange box on the trailer chassis side. Is it an old fashioned genset? It’s nothing like the gen sets that are used to today but I’ve not seen anything like this? Nick.
Sorry to bother you fine fellows again! I’m also after a bit of basic information about Jameson. I have a nice picture of UFO 664V,no idea what depot this was from but I understand they had a place in Southampton?

Hi Nick go to Davies International thread on TNUK and I will tell you more about HWL as we are at the bottom of page one and this will kill two birds with one stone, regards John Davies aka Buzzer.
OK will do, thanks
Also chaps, I have a picture of a Henry Smithers Daf, in P&O colours. Searching the forums for the name Smithers the most mentions are in this thread, was Smithers a Southampton company that P&O took over, or were Smithers a nationwide company and just had a base in Southampton? Thanks in advance.

Nick Jamesons had a depot in Southampton and I remember going to the closing down sale, it is now occupied by Travis Perkins selling building materials. We also pulled there trailers in the day a lot of kangaroo tilts and when you picked one up from the docks you had to get the brakes, tyres and lights checked before they gave you the paper work to go up the road. They had a depot in Heywood as well, cheers Buzzer.

I,m sure the head office / depot was in Orsett in Essex, with a Southampton depot as well.
Here,s a couple of their Big J,s…that’s me on the right.
Thanks John, and you Tony, much appreciated
Nick.
No luck with that box on the side of the Molo skelly then? I can only presume it’s a generator for the fridge box?
