Long Departed Southampton Hauliers (Part 1)

Here’s one that I think is Smiths of Maddison but I may be wrong, bet that Seatrain box was hefty as they nearly always were, Buzzer.

John,

That box is heavy luckily that Big J has got an Gardner 8 pot in it :unamused: :unamused:

Richard

Definitely one of Smiths Buzzer, might even have been one of Fergies photos.
I did a few years for them and never pulled a container…all rope and sheet.

Richard regarding your comment on the engine, well it could well have been a 240 Gardner… :unamused: :unamused:
As I stated only just last night on the Old Cafes thread, i,m sure they had some when I was there in early 70,s. :open_mouth: :open_mouth:

Good find, did some work for Ronnie Ridgers but never had any pics, remember Mel well top man.

Bit of a lump on the back for Raymond Brown , a shot of Chappell’s of Stubbington close enough to Southampton to qualify, Buzzer.

Hi Tone,

Yes she woke me up to take the pic, she still had it all to do to get to San Lorenzo customs in Rome, with a load of Revlon perfume :unamused: Before she woke me again !! then I had to get out to open the back doors so the Italian customs guys could help themselves to a few bottles

Regards
Richard

Hi Richard, it must have been so tough on you to double man/woman all the way
to Rome, and with a box van as well… :unamused: :unamused:
I hope angie didn,t disturb you from the bunk on the way home you poor old soul.
No wonder you look so old and haggard today… :open_mouth: :open_mouth:

Worked for me Tone!

Thinking about it, I now understand why you two Richard and Gazzer still look
a picture of health…you only did half a bloody job compared to the rest of us. :unamused: :unamused:
But, on reflection I was quite happy at the time to leave the other half at home…bless her.

Slanderous Tony, I never did “half” a job! It was all about education.

Well it was certainly an education running with you at times Gazzer.
I vaguely remember being with you and Sonya , don’t recall where, it could have been
in Swiss or maybe Austria or could have even been Germany…it was at a very small Italian
border and I,m pretty sure we had to park for a day before going through, so I guess it
was on a weekend.
It was the one and only time I ever used it, so it must have been off the main routes.
Can you remember that Gazzer, ■■? your memories better than mine usually.

Let’s go by deduction:

Small Italian border…not Germany then.
Not spent a day in Austria…
Swiss…could be but can’t remember Tone.

There, that’s that one sorted!

Senior moment there Gazzer, with the mention of Germany.
I,m getting seriously concerned about my memory…honestly it’s getting diabolical.!!!
Oh well, I,ll just keep taking the tablets…

Memories are made of pictures like this, Buzzer.
