Well done Buzzer, that was him…your memory is obviously better than mine.
I didn’t know you then, did you do any work for them.■■?
I know you did the fruit and it was pretty well sewn up between Pitters and Begard.
loaded a scac trailer in stocksbridge during the winter with snow on the ground, parked for an early start on a slope, fish and chips from the Chinese, off to bed, woke up to a funny noise and vibration only to find the air going down releasing the brakes on the berliet, then rushing around in the snow in just my skiddies looking for a wheel chock to stop it. lol. after that the chock was always under the o\s\front wheel with a rope through the window to pull it out in the morning always supposing it fired up.

Tone MR Wilks used to park his trailers in that yard so I was in and out all the time, remember he had a M/E spec trailer with 4 tanks on the chassis which I got a feeling Eddie Huntley removed for him as it was extra weight and they were not used. Eddie was in that yard too, he got the transcon I believe from Terry Weeks and Ronnie drove the Merc, they had an A series ERF at some stage as well.
Used to load rubber at Alf Arrowshiths yard near Telford as Wilksy was in with some one at ISR, also Tampax from Havant for “Prato john” and a lot from ISR at Fawley, cheers Buzzer.
Hi Buzzer, I think Alf Arrowsmiths place was in or near Market Drayton.
I used to do the rubber myself for a few companyies in fact.
Smith of Maddiston, British International, SeaRoute and for Hocfun.
I only remember Colin Wilkes having just the one tilt…most of the time while I was working
for Eddie, we were doing Italy with those Rentco box vans…cushty.
Here,s a not very clear clear photo of Hocfuns tilt.

Here,s a not very clear clear photo of Hocfuns tilt.Tony he used boxes for the tampax and we back loaded from Albini & Pitigliani with rolls of cloth, all different sizes. They used to send you out on the pretext of loading then would take off half of it for some one else then top you up, they did send a nipper out with you who knew all the places they loaded else you would deffo get lost. Also used to tip those loads in Wickford for onward distribution in the UK. Used to eat in the station restaurant, big circle of trucks both sides of the road which was tree lined and you had to get your inside wheels on the curb to level the cab up else you ended up in a heap one end of the bunk in the morning, Buzzer.
What the hells going on…my avatar has changed.!!!
I,ve been hacked…I haven,t touched it and I can’t remember how I set my
original one now.

Buzzer…I reckon anyone that’s done Italy has probably loaded out of Albinis at Prato
at some time…groupage and like you say, rolls of cloth.
Left there one Friday at midnight when I was driving for Transport Services. At the time
I had a 1626 Merc.and still made Sat. nights boat. ( as we did )

Use to hate having to drive down to the office in town for t forms then get told either stay in compound or don’t stop for a break till after the border
