Thank you Buzzer and I am old enough to be a competent navigator using the sun and the stars as long as my specs don’t get wet
cheers Johnnie

Johnnie, don’t worry about what anyone else says mate, you are an
honorary member of our club and you,d be more than welcome to join us,
especially if you,ve got any medical skills, which might come in handy on the
journey to care for the older passengers… :unamused: :unamused:
As for Rigsby, well I personally have no objection, but you would have to take
responsibility for him, should he get carried away with the mademoiselles and senoritas
that will undoubtedly want to join us on route… :open_mouth: :open_mouth: :unamused: :unamused:

Johnnie,

There will be quite a few incontinent navigators on this trip ! So you will be welcome :unamused:

Horry,

Hope you and the family are well, I spoke to the CEO of DFDS today and he said the reason for them having to close the route was a certain gentleman from the Segensworth area had screwed them down so much on the freight rate,it didn’t even pay to run to the Isle of Wight !!

Regards
Richard

In reply to the above post, what ,e said. :unamused: :unamused: :unamused:

Horry…is it likely that anyone else will take over the Ports / Le Havre route…■■?
I can’t believe that route will come to an end…blimey talk about the end of an era. :open_mouth: :open_mouth:
If that is the case, I guess you,ll be shipping Ports / Caen.■■?
Bring back " the love boat " I say… :sunglasses: :sunglasses:

Good evening TIR. Alls not lost. Brittany have been running
Ports / Le Havre alongside Ld Lines since April, doing outbound during
The week at midday and back at 2200, then it does a quick Spain at the
Weekend, just like you used to. Ships at noon so Mr Green
Still has enough time to collect Charlie After he’s been to
The Post Office to collect his pension / running money for the trip.

Richard, the only reason it turned back at the Isle of Wight
Was due to a couple of IOW resident protestors waving banners from the
Needles lighthouse. Both still in denial receiving a lifetime ban
For lifting all of the doggie bags one morning. Once the authorities
Found out who they drove for, it was game over. Hope you and Angie
are well, Horry.

I’m not sure how long this has been into being but south of Poitiers is prohibited for “Plus de 7.5t EN TRANSIT” on the RN10 direction Bordeaux. Monday I saw the sign on the A10 north of Poitiers and again when I came off at Poitiers sud. Still a quite a few southbound trucks but Vivonne was almost empty at 10.00, 4 trucks in total. However there didn’t seem to be a ban on trucks coming north, or at least, no one was taking any notice! Just FYI!

Gazzer are you working for AA international route planners at Basingstoke part time ? nice work if you can get it, by the way are you putting your name down on this European adventure coach trip, we need a road marshall on that job and you might be our man, Buzzer.

Would love to Buzzer but I never know when I am going to be there except for harvest and then my days off are last minute decisions…unless it’s when I am on my way up in the July or back in September and I could be in Le Havre anyway. I have a yellow jacket in the car.

Are you sure that Gazzer is the right man for the job Buzzer. He looks far too young to be in a position of trust.Would you buy a second hand car from him? I think that his eyes are a bit too close together. IMHO.No offence intended or implied Gary. Love you really. Regards Charlie

Ahem! Charlie! I hope to be the final standard bearer of the troupe d’Italie etc. alongwith the young Jimski and yourself. Seniority has always been the way in our job. I’m indebted to Pat Scorey in this position, my mentor.

1 of Sibleys rusting away at Toothill

Hi All after driving all the way down to Milan and not seeing any English trucks we finally came across one of E M Rogers, but when we caught up to it, it was on Dutch Plates … So that don’t count !!!

Charlie I used to stay in the Queens as they did B&B back in the days before sleeper cabs it was handy when you shipped out AM as you could park the wagon in the ferry compound and walk across the road.
cheers Johnnie

This seems the nearest thread to my query.

In the 1970s there was a fairly large (family) haulage from Poole. IIRC their lorries were dark blue with yellow or gold signwriting and at the time were AEC or Leyland tilt cab. What was their name please?
