I,ve just had an E- mail from Fred Blair via Trucknet.
Who remembers Fred ■■?..He used to drive for Squibby ( do you remember him Dave…Fergie47 )and then later for
Colin Wilkes for Hocfun.
He,s been living in the States for 21 years in Illinois as an owner driver doing coast to coast.
I had,nt seen or heard of Fred for about 25 years. Small world innit. :sunglasses: :sunglasses:
Fred obviously looks in to have made contact.
The names he recalls are Bev Wyatt, John Lee, John Smith, Cluey, ( yes you Pete ) and Bingo ( sadly had to tell Fred of Bingo,s passing )
Anyone else on here know Fred.■■?

Hi Mappo,

I dont suppose you have Freds email address have you? I wanted to let him know my Mum had died a couple of years ago but never had any contact details for him.

Hi John I remember Jack and Solent Shipping although I only ever did a few jobs for them towards the end when they had an office/portacabin in Belgrave Road.

Here are a few who worked for him

Bob Payne in some difficulty with John Lee I think!

Steve Mathews

Ian Lawson

John Compton with an ex Sea Route Scania 110

I think that there were many more!!

Hi all, i,m sorry to hear about the passing of John Shaw.
I ran with and bumped into John many times over the years and he never seemed happier than when
clambering over or under lorries helping drivers out. I even remember John successfully repairing a stranded coach in France
much to the delight of the driver and his punters. RIP mate.

Buzzer…here,s a glimpse of your old Volvo on the left of photo but cant remember who was driving it.
That,s a young me, Larry sat in cab and Jimmy Lamb. Who remembers them ■■?

Wyatt_erp…Ive sent you a PM.

Hi John,
I remember Jack, I think he was involved with John Ward when they had Mammoth Transport, which then got sold to Hoveringham Gravel, who brought it for the name as the remains of a mammoth had been found in one of their quarries in the Notttingham area. Jack also had a pub out our way in Lover near Downton and Bill Darke ran it for him at one time,a useless bit of info but loads of people used to post their Valentines cards there as the postmark showed Lover, the post box was always full at that time of the year with Mappo’s cards :unamused: :unamused:

Graham Richardson used to drive one of Solent’s Mercs if I’m not mistake, and as Pat says Bob Payne, where are they now ?

Richard

Hi last time I saw Graham he was mixed up with Nigel Hainsworth they had a workshop/office over in Hazel Road Woolston I think Charlie Bonner had something to do with that as well, the Fiat was in the corner of the workshop looking a bit sad.

I also seem to remember it all went ■■■’s up and Nigel alledgedly had to have a holiday courtesy of Her Majesty’s Sevice, something to do with defrauding a factoring company amongst other things!!

Regards Pat
