PAM 108M was a great motor I bought it off Goughs of Donhead St Andrew near Shaftsbury, we had an old Scania 140 LHD in the yard with a splitter box in it from about 1968/9 it had a hub reduction axle we took the diff out and made up a spacer gasket and fitted it to Pam it really made her fly, I then sold it and it was on the coal convoys in South Wales during the steel/miners strike, it was said it could leave 1/2 hour after the convoy and catch it up.

Later Ken Chant RIP owned it before he bought his Foden.

Hi Pat i saw that pam no. plate on Les’s merc car late last year so i think it still has pride of place.

Hi all Hi Pat there’s a name I’ve not heard for a long long time Ken Chant I remember him pulling trailers out of Pompey docks with that Foden I think it was fairly new at the time, was it green and white or silver ■■

Hi Jim

Yes thats the man unfortunately he succombed to cancer quite a few years ago.

It was green and silver I think?

Hi Jim, found this pic on thread about SCAC. Is this him? I have a photo somewhere of Ken Chant’s silver cabbed Foden. Think that one on an ‘A’ reg but Pat / JD and others would know for sure.

Hi Horry no I don’t think so, the one I’m thinking of had a head board with his name on it bottom half was dark green top half was silver can’t remember if it was a 6 legger or 4. But I’m sure Pat would know,

Hi all i do remember buying an F88 from Ken it was imaculate and later we put a tag axle on it the no. was ACG something but i expect horry has the full no.

I’m pretty certain ken was a fitter by trade and worked either for or with Brian (Fingers) Young in a workshop in Northam somewhere.

When he bought Pam 108M the cab was in succombing to the old tin worm and he spent a long time repacing all the rot so she was good again. He was very thorough!

I’m not sure but didn’t that black Foden on SCAC’s have something to do with Paul Maggs he had some exotic trucks on there a Mack for example.

Hi All,(Good to see you on here J.D.)
Here’s a pic of Ken’s Foden sorry it’s not very clear !
I remember a Foden demonstrator being stolen from the Avonmouth dealer,I don’t think it had even been on the road. They never found it until a couple of years later when a chap went into a Caterpillar dealer in Sydney Australia to get some spares for the engine !

Hi All, I think you will find that the late Ken Chant also had a black Foden which was sign written in gold lettering, this was very simular to the one that Maggs had which was Paulton Transport.I think that the late Ken Chants fFoden was stolen.Regards Todd.

Here it is. ACG 824R. Did not know it belonged to Ken. Was driven by Dave Morgan though, hence the bunting in the window and additional badges etc on the grille. Will post a pic of it later on behind a load of ATO at the yard (Upper Northam Drive). It was sold on to a bloke who lived in the Locksheath / Park Gate area as I remember he used to park it in a dead end / side road opposite the Esso Garage.

Hi all hi MaggieD that’s the very one Rich my memory ain’t to bad after all  dark green bottom silver top !!!
