Well now a couple of pubs names starting with ‘O’ a local of my dad’s for many years as it was run by a fellow Irish man The Old Farm House at Mountpleasant!
But an old favourite haunt of mine some 35/40 years was The Onslow Hotel in Onslow Road opposite the Dorchester (another pub favoured by the Irish many years ago). I used to go to the Onslow nearly every Saturday night as they had live bands Bob Pearce was a regular and I played Sunday football with Pete the landlord
A couple of others I can remember The Oddfellows in St Mary’s Street and the Old Thatched House, Romsey Rd, Shirley and years ago there used to be The Oxford Hotel Oxford Street!!!
Regards Pat.
Will hopefully be trying to play golf tomorrow and not getting too wet so a little bit early, but local pubs beginning with a ‘P’
Another favourite of my father’s The Pensioners in Bedford Place
The Plume of Feathers in the Kingsland
Another old haunt of mine many years ago The Prince of Wales in Northam not far from Empress Road.
But my favourite especially when Dennis Cremlin had it (a gorgeous pint of Guinness), also very handy when waiting for an Indian takeaway in Rumbridge Street Totton
The Peg & Parrot
Regards Pat
It’s not often I get to drive in daylight these days but while doing so today I noticed an F88/89 languishing in a farm/yard just south of the M27 between the Hamble and Hedge End junctions. It is dark blue with a white roof and clearly visible from the motorway.
A quick look at google maps shows the entrance to this farm/yard as being in Upper Northam Drive and there seems to be plenty of trucks and coaches in the surrounding yards. If you play with the street view from the M27 you can make it out so I guess it’s been there for a while.
Anybody know anything about it?.
Cheers
Neilf

Hya Bev, hope you,re keeping well mate and good to hear that Fred’s ok.
During my time working for Jim and Barry Squibb we no longer did the Avon job, but did have some really good work.
We used to do IBM to Madrid and Barcelona, Rank Xerox to Madrid, Royal Mail/groupage to Madrid and Ventigmilia, and my favourite at the time, Gillette razors to Seville. We also of course did the usual run of the mill stuff like waste
paper and scrap metal to Italy. That used to be a challenge at times in some of those old tilts with floppy framework going over Mt. Cenis.
Ah the memories aye.
Neilf…hi mate, that yard / farm that you mentioned or a part of it, was indeed Davies International yard
during the good times of two tone blue. Maybe that 88 / 89 you mentioned is one of Buzzers he left behind.

Looks like you two need a 45 gallon barrel of Grecian 2000 between you or are you just gonna go with the flow, cheers Buzzer.
Graceful with age John.
Well boys "R " is for Royal Oak at Fritham which is up a dead end road for those who know it, and I am still mystified by how many people find it, I had my dutch courage in there before getting hitched to the " Boss " lucky old her and now Richard seems to be quite a regular there which is strange as he lives over the border in Wellow,is that not in Wiltshire or do you just scrape in ? what else have you cheers Buzzer.
Hi Neil went to check out your sighting J7/J8 and could not get in our old yard as there is a pair of ■■■■■■ great gates at the entrance so could not go any further will try and check out later in the week, JD.
We’ve booked in two trucks for the first Beaulieu “Truckmania” next Bank Holiday weekend (Sun & Mon). Ollie and I will be lurking if anyone has intentions of visiting said event.
Hopefully it will be 2 Hampshire Grain vehicles as one is undergoing some cosmetic surgery! NO COMMENT!

Hi John what happened to ‘Q’■■?
I can remember 2 the Queensland Tavern and the Queens Hotel!!
Now as regards ‘R’ I used to cycle out to the Royal Oak at Fritham regularly on a Sunday with some friends the raging log fire was most welcoming on a cold winters day,it was run by Eric and Eileen if I remember correctly, I have also played darts there!!!
How about the Rover, Shirley, the Regents Park Hotel, the Richmond Portswood the Rising Sun the Royal Sovereign Millbankand the various Red Lions including the oldest pub in Southampton in the High Street.
Off this afternoon to the Ice House to see a very good friend of mine Paul Desuza and his band.
Regards Pat
Thought of another " R " Rising Sun at Wooten near New Milton as we quite often drive the horses out to there passing the edge of Burley then back up the old railway line to Brockenhurst then up the back of the New Forest Showground and back to Minstead, cheers Buzzzer.
