Hi John a bit late on parade been to a BBQ all day!! I saw Barry Winter last night in the Saxon Calmore and I asked him about Bill Robinson he is still about and working for Meachers and has not been with Audrie for quite a few years now. He has been quite ill for a while also.
How about the Junction Inn in Priory Road, St Deny’s have had a few pints in there some 35 years ago when there used to be an inter pub knockout in the centre opposite various events tug of war, apple dunking and throwing and catching a raw egg(greatest distance)To name but a few!!
As I will be busy tomorrow till the afternoon, my ‘K’ for then will be the King George, Oakley Road, Shirley where coincidentally I shall be in the afternoon for a few drinks and listening to a very good live band!
Regards Pat

Hi all just spoke to winkey he asked me to tell baldrick 1953 the vicars daughters name was amanda jane there was also another girl called rachel.he sends his regards and thinks he knows who you are. wants to know where you live know. he is parked up in abindon just had his dinner keeps threataning to come to tim sheppards in august but said that last year and never made it so we will see.
Hi Gerbil… not sure if we know eachother? But thank’s for the info …
Obviously winky is going senile… tell him it’s Stuart Mitchell…he lived in Droxford and I lived in Corhampton when we were about 14…
Amanda Jane. Oh yes, and the girl Rachel. I was besotted with her… She later married a fireman and I was heartbroken… By a very weird coincidence, I ended up going on a blind date with her some 35 years later. We arranged to meet at the Bucks Head in Meonstoke. This was about 35 years later and she had put on about a stone a year since. She was very keen on me though , I remember saying I was going to the loo and getting out to my car and away as quickly as possible!
Didn’t Tim Sheppard have the White Horse in Droxford…( or maybe his Dad? )…Later on Rawlings? Cheers!

Now then " D " is for Dolphin in Botley bin by it loadsa times as I suspect many have on the way for MOT test in Hills Road but are there any more, Cheers Buzzer.
Hi JD , hope you good… …
I have many happy memories of the Dolphin in the early/mid 70’s…
At the time, I was sharing a house in the square just opposite, with two blokes and two girls. One of whom I eventually married. ( one of the girls , not the blokes ) Always big party time , and our preferred hostelry was The Dolphin. The Bugle was for the boring ones and the Brewery bar in Winchester Street was for the olduns…However, the Dolphin shut at 10.30, so at about twenty past we’d drink up and head for the Brewery, that closed at 11 and sit among the domino players in our flared cords etc…
The Dolphin was well known for having bands in their " back room " and I recall seeing Thin Lizzy and Slade among many others.
One of the occasional visitors at the time was the great Mick Channon. Him and his mate Peter Osgood would sit at the bar having the craick… both funny blokes and pretty much Gods at the time and sometimes Peter Shilton would be with them. I seem to remember he later had a pub out Totton way? Someone on here will know. Rumour was he won it in a game of cards… I think he eventually lost everything through gambling, drink and women. At least he didn’t squander it.
PS. All good in the polytunnel…including the Baldrick Beans. Cheers!

Hi Rich
You’re right it was just before Bellegarde down a steep hill turn sharp right over a railway bridge (Fred didn’t) about 1k after that was the ‘Swiss routiers’ on the left, then after that was a hairpin left and a climb up to the ‘Monkey house’ also on the left.
regards to you and Ange
