Do you mean Chris by any chance■■?

Yes mate.

you could try Davis Turner in Dartford, groupage to Milan usually.

Anyone who has an export load to Italy these days will probably be offering about £250 for it.

Why is it that Italy is one of the few places where UK trucks continue to go at any sort of meanful volume? I mean, nearly all the German work has gone, same with Spain, theres a fair bit to France I suppose and a smidgin to Benelux but Italy seemed to keep on going with numerous UK companies continuing to operate to and from that country…why?

Agree! I have asked myself the same question :unamused:

Must be Eastern European hauliers wont take this job - too costs for them due Swiss Transit, Blanc and Frejus Tunnel - too compliced for them! alright for Brits

Dunno Ben, seems very strange. I used to do Swiss every week and it was full of eastern Europeans. Except for the groupage loads from Basel which always seemed to go on either Swiss trucks or on a truck of the destination country the places I’d load at would be full of PL, LT, SK and H etc and you’d see the usual hundreds of Finejas trucks heading from UK to Italy as thats all they seemed to do then. But despite all that, you’d still get EM Rogers, Boyle, Neill & Brown, European Road Freight etc etc going down there in strong numbers. I dont know how it is now, this was back in 2006-2009 when I was doing it.
When I first started doing Swiss in 2006 there were a lot of UK trucks doing that and much less eastern Europeans there than anywhere else, but by 2009 it was almost unheared of to find another UK truck clearing on the border in to Swiss other than those transiting on down to Italy.

still looking…

richmond have you tried a pm to r slicker he normally only loads mega trailers for italy but there aint much he doesnt about italy, he put me right a few times, hes a very helpful man regards paul. ps give ron a ring at smiths of scotter another very sound chap.

Why are Frejus and The Blanc so expensive? I know there was the fire, but 'kin hell it’s pricey! :open_mouth:

because the tunnel operators know how much diesel it takes to go over the top and how long and price it accordingly, and in the winter over the top is not favourable so they make a mint

I have absolutely no idea luke, the last time i used the frejus i was working with your old man, nowadays i enter italy at ventemiglia and head for genova

I rang smiths of scotter last week and had nothing doing, celsa steel, primor, idt, davies turner, a couple of italians i know directly, i fear another ship out empty coming on, wouldnt be the first time by a long chalk… done it plenty of times already…

Can you not get a French load heading that way, then at least its not all empty running

or a german/austrian or swiss load ?
