How do they get away with the way they treat the transport industry and drivers, Lutterworth today 11 o’clock booking arrived 10.30, here there’s a pager do 1, 3 hours later bay 73.tipped paper work ready 20 min come back. Went back not checked yet another 20 min . Got out at dead on 16.00, and the goods in treat you like poopoo.how do we let them get away with it and why do we
I have wondered about this, are they charged “waiting time” after a certain period, I think
a period of ninety minutes is a decent enough amount after which there is an additional charge such as they have with shipping containers at the customers premises when unloading.
My gaffer pulled 3 out of Swindon the other week.every road off the island where you turn right was chocka… Had decended into a free for all.
Livingston Lidl is exactly the same, you can wait a full day in there. and being a german company the one way system is all arse for elbow and made for left hookers. its a blind side reverse onto the bays…hate the place with a passion
they just like to remind you that they didnt take kindly to losing twice…same reason as mercedes like to put the ignition key on the wrong side .everythings made to suit lhd cars and adapted grudgingly for the uk.
This all started years ago when Netto Aldi and such like insisted drivers unloaded themselves ,it should have been stamped out then ,firms with job worth drivers who wont say no and hauliers backing down and letting the drivers do it they take the ■■■■■■■ ■■■■ that why they can sell ■■■■■ in there shops for ■■■■ all because there running costs are low you see more people in there warehouses picking up bits of shrinkwrap than you do tipping trls and running stock away I wonder if the aldis and such do this anywhere else in Europe

Yep they are self tip everywhere, and it is more common on the continent plenty of places in Holland will expect you to tip a frozen load into their cold store wearing nothing more than a pair of jeans and jacket

So not only do they make you wait for a ■■■■■■■ age you then have the pleasure of tipping yourself with a pallet truck that’s ■■■■■■ put them plum square in a line for someone to check that takes an hour or two its a ■■■■■■■ disgrace
Lidl are ■■■■, but I have tipped loads of times at Aldi, and usually in and out within an hour. Swindon has (had?) Booked bays in either the morning or afternoon slot. Arrive after either 09.00 or 13.00 and straight onto the bay. Jump inside, half hour with electric pump truck, and usually by the time I shut the door and parked the pallet truck, the paper work was done.
Maybe I was lucky. Maybe my attitude towards the goods in staff was professional. Maybe I just get on with the job, without wincing about a bit of graft. (I’d like to see most of today’s ‘drivers’ cope with tarpaulins or a tilt
).
Lidl though, are ■■■■. With bells on.

Not saying that most are scared off a little graft but were do you draw the line you deliver the load they should tip it how many people have been hurt getting trapped in trls and pushed through the curtains with those barrows quite a few and when you go to these places the drivers run for the barrows like its le mans 24 hour race its a joke glad iam out of rdc work . its a lot to be said about one man one job but it will never alter now

Utterly despise the place. IMO it wouldn’t be bad if it had sufficient space for for the amount of trucks waiting (and waiting and waiting and waiting and waiting and waiting…) and a parking area not designed by Tiffany the work experience admin clerk.
Last time I was in I waited 3 hours for a bay despite being there 15 minutes early as their little sign says. Went in and kicked up a fuss, guy checked my pallets as I took them off and woman had my paperwork ready by the time I pulled off the bay. First time that’s ever happened!
A.
Most Lidl RDC staff are at least alright to deal with
BUT not Lutterworth.
That place is some kind of special Hell.
Used to do it with stobarts and I don’t miss the place it’s downright dangerous … I’ve seen a guy pick up a pump truck not having a clue how it works and ploughed it full steam into a pallet of uht milk and it wasn’t a pretty sight

I would not be at all surprised if that was deliberate. …
To be honest, if you tell Aldi that you don’t know how to use a pump truck, they’ll show you. And let’s be fair, if you have trouble using a pump truck, perhaps you shouldn’t be in charge of a 44ton truck…
My company has had drivers who didn’t know how to hitch up a trailer

Lidl Runcorn is the worst place I’ve ever tipped , refuse to go there any more , I would run my truck back empty before reloading to go there
Horrible place , rude and arrogant staff
Avoid at all cost !
We have done a store run for the Newton Aycliffe Lidl and in the whole of the Chilled/despatch side there was only 3 or 4 pump trucks that actually worked for everyone who had to load that night. Was told it’s regularly like that.
To be fair I have done the same out of Weston and they were well organised and friendly.
Productivity.

I’ve only encountered Aldi Bathgate and Lidl Livingston.
Aldi is easy and quick no hassle but Lidl are an absolute waste of space!! Turned up last Sat at 1000 for a 12 booking, stood at the goods in window for 45 mins before the ■■■■■■ behind it opened the wee sliding hatch to hand in the paperwork, then he made the 5 other drivers behind me wait the same as me! Drive round the back and get told to park up and they will get me in about 4-5 hours.
Frozen load which was booked for 12 yet Lidl Livi only take this load at 6am every Sat they say. You cant win with them!
I have heard a lot of drivers complain about the rest of the depots too! Shambles

I thought the idea of a driver doing a “self tip” was to get out quicker and it was a benefit all round.
Lidlbseem to be taking the urine here by making the driver “self tip” even after waiting hours.
Will hauliers and drivers do anything about it■■? No
