Leyland marathon

there is a company called “runners needs” they stock proper running shoes not cheap but can you put a price on comfort , they also do a check on how your feet land when you run they put you on a tread mill and film your feet when you are running for about 30 seconds and they will advise you on the shoes best for your feet, my eldest runs a lot and he had lots of pain in his feet it turned out his feet were landing with the outside first he bought shoes on there advise and has no pain now, plus you should buy shoes half a size too big to stop blisters. “runners needs” are inside some shops like skiing shops that sort of thing I live in essex there is one in romford not sure where you are though you should find them on the net for your local shop, hope this helps cheers fred m

What is the best insole and water system for running a marathon? Currently training for a marathon. I ran a half marathon last year, and feel like I could have performed better if my feet didn’t hurt around mile 8. When I checked my feet after the half marathon, skin was rubbed off around the ball of the foot, etc. Any suggestions to take care of the rubbing as well?

Hop on a bus

I know i have put some pictures on Salop Haulage site but some a bit different and I thought the Marathon drivers might llike the pictures . Tony

Alternatively buy a pair of clogs!!

Unispeed from Lowestoft ran a number of day cab mk1’s. Then IIRC they had 3 sleeper cabbed mk2’s before going onto Roadtrains & Transconti’s.
XUR94S was driver by my father, & I think the other two were XUR92S & XUR93S.

John Tweedie as written a letter which appears in Vintage Roadscene this month singing the praises of the Marathon he ran on UK and continental work and even goes as far as to say a Scania he had at the time nearly bankrupted him :open_mouth:

Heres one from Northern Ireland.

It was basically an AEC with a dodgy Leyland back axle

This mk1 was operated by Hutsons (Beccles)Ltd.
They had a abatoir which used to belong to Swifts. When they bought the business this came with it.
