Can anyone remember a black and red marathon early 80s? used to have a set a
o cow horns on the roof was a real good looking truck ,used to haul timber ,im sure the driver wore the cowboy hat etc.
used to see it most days round about lockerbie coming back from work.

Speaking of the Coatesgate Cafe, It was one of my favourate eating places, Its sad that it is no longer there, & what makes it worse for me, I Went up the 74 a while ago & if it wasnt for whats left of Kings Quarry Face, theres is sweet nothing of the great Coatesgate Cafe, all gone, I only hope that the old drivers like myself remember how good it \was, nothing has replaced it for quality & value. Im an old aged retired long distancs driver from the 50s, & Im sure there must be a lot of oldies about that can remember what Im talking about come on you oldies do it now before its too bloody late. aye coatsgate cafe wi the revolving door…lol.was not to bad…was told the americans practiced the moon landings here ,if they could land in the craters here the moon was a cakewalk hehe…was a step up frae the Moss wi the teaspoons wired to the table.

We had a few leyland lorries from the sixties to eighties here are a few pictures.


The retriever we had from new and sold to N B Tite the comet was bought secondhand from G A Warren Moorland Nr Bridgwater it had a wooden jennings body.The Lynx was purchased from new and had a Newark livestock container.We also had afew super comets but I haven`t come across any photos. :smiley: :imp: :laughing: :unamused: JC
