I remember these Viv Hallams Leylands, Did they carry some sort of timber framed structure type of loads.■■> Regards Larry.
My first of several Leylands, Ex Barrow Hepburn Hide & Skin Merchants from Berverley, £1,500 Quid with a 12 month MOT, a good old motor served us very well on long distance work. Regards Larry,
Our first brand new Leyland RT, Perkins 300 T. engine 9 sp. box We ran it for 7 years, The Nigel Arthur bought it and ran it for several years after.
i liked that setup on the roadtrain larry , i had a y reg foden with the same engine and gearbox and that would catch pigeons . mind you i think someone had tinkered with it as my mate had a new foden with a 350 ■■■■■■■ and 13 speed fuller and he couldn’t get near me on the hills . it did do head gaskets pretty regular though . merry xmas mate , dave
Never had any problems with ours. A mate of mine had a Foden with the Cat engine & a 13 speed box but it wouldnt look at Leyland for pulling power he even took it to Levertons at Birtley & had the pump done but it made no difference, & it cost him a large sum of money into the bargain, he was a bit mift at the time, so I said change the engine to a RR 300T, He never did, but the Foden still did very well for him. Regards Larry.

If the narrow cab one there is a 6 wheeler brings back memories of one I had, it makes my back hurt just looking at the photo Larry. Did you ever have to change the seat for an air one to keep a driver in it?
I was doing a quick early morning load as a favour one day & as you know, they’d fly if you wanted them to. I was going alog a single lane road & spotted a grip across the road, I hit the thing & the bloody lorry took off, I hit my head on the roof of the cab and had to go home. I’m sure I was half a inch shorter for a couple of days lol.
Dam good lorry for the job though, I went to the NEC & met Joe Kamozzy on the isrinhausen stand, he’d just been to Leyland to design a seat for the Constructor range, it was model 6500/515 with heavy duty shocks in it & to put one in that truck transformed the lorry.

This Freighter just had an ordinary seat, The Road Train T45 had the air seat which was ok, we didnt fancy one in the tipper for obvious reasons, This picture was taken at Harden Red Stone Quarry which is way out in the sticks. At Rothbury.Regards Larry.
Good photo larry we had LTN 190 AND LBB 684 both cracking motors Happy memories Ralph

Did the driver hit Vanessa Feltz ? If he did , he`s done remarkable little damage ! !
Cheers , cattle wagon man.
