i dont think the marathon was any worse than the other english offerings of the time ,quite a smart looking lorry
Howay Bonny Lad there is no way you can compare the Marathon to the Atki/Sed Atk or ERF!! Leyland had lost the plot years before and the Marathon was just one of the final “codge ups” they attempted in order to carry on receiving the state aid they enjoyed for far too long,IMO.Cheers Dennis.

ye think it went to cyprus hicks had alot of blue circle costructors converted to tippers for sum reason blue c would cut the chassis and they never came with the tanks on hicks had a ■■■■ load for spares he put 1 or 2 on road every mounth every truck was always for sale a lot export his drivers was always getting a differant truck cause he would ave sold the one they was driving at his hight he had about 24 to 30 on road at least 10+ round back for speares only 1 six wheeler a bison2 he ran for many years sadley it was sold to a scrap yard they used it as yard shunter it was wrecked in 6 mounths
I spent many years in the 60’s with my Dad in one of these, Friday night up to Salford depot, then dad would get me steak pudding and chips and I would sit in the cab while he went in the pub. Happy Days.
