Thanks for that John.That shed was based at Glass Glover’s Hitchin depot.We had XWG 196T at Maltby,it did Littlewoods store at Chesterfield daily,plus a warehouse run for the Burton on Trent store,a day shift run so I never had the pleasure of operating it so to speak,except when I was shunting on nights.I started a rumour that a drawbar coupling was going to be fitted on it…it wasn’t long before the shop steward was knocking on the TM’s door. :laughing:
And it wasn’t long before the TM gave me a round of f***s for winding the shop steward up. :grimacing:

were is this leyland please this one belongd to albert hicks he had about twenty four all this colour and about 3 routmans in 1989 to about 97 when he packed in.the oldest leyland was an x reg youngest a g reg he bought any bulkers long wheel base to alloy boded to normal muck away they only did muck shift work they was based behind showcase cinama at birstall leeds he changed the couler on cab from white to lite blue with white and dark blue strips in 96 the routmans were t reg they dint last long he never bought any new most of em had the 265 rolls and 300 rolls sum had ■■■■■■■ 250 couple 14 litres he would by 3 all ruff and build two out of 3 they was at least ten round the back for spares and a shed full of brand new parts engine rebuild kits new bumpers wings doors think he bought leylands old stock they even had two new cabs when he sold up nearly all of em whent to malta cypras africa was this one in the pic going to be exported?

did you check if the barlow’s dodge had a rack on the chassis for jerry cans of fuel john ? old barlow had all his motors fitted out like that , in fact the later model artic tanks had the trailer chassis boarded to carry fuel cans . cheers , dave

Hiya…i don’t know if this is the same chap driving this roadrunner. i saw a vidio at a commercial show
in the 80’s. the chap was from Italy and showing off his skills. at one time he had a fiat with a 40ft spread
axle tilt driving round a circuit with one side up in the air like with the leyland. pritty inpressive.
