Muckaway:
Leyland Freighter still operated by OD Mandy King from Carterton. I’m almost certain this was new to Kingerlee Builders. This lorry is immaculate for it’s age (H reg) and I think is plated at 12t gross. She keeps it busy and also does the school run with it
I think that looks like you Nathan, sat behind the wheel----and you got your mate off the shovel to take the the shot----don’t be shy now ,we all had to start somewhere!!! cheers Dennis.

One here that Chris Webb may well remember.Leyland Clydesdale belonging to the Glass Glover Group of companys. transportphotos.com/road/photo/VS011500
The company was called MULTIPLE FRUITS LTD, did most of Littlewoods haulage with orange coloured lorries, they had a depot in Reading somewhere (Woodley at a guess) and we used to service their fleet of Leyland Lairds and Boxer’s. One fault they all had was that the automatic chassis lubrication (oil) made the shackle and steering kingpins too “loose” (coupled with the optional power steering) and the driver’s complained of steering wobble!
Hiya…i don’t know if this is the same chap driving this roadrunner. i saw a vidio at a commercial show
in the 80’s. the chap was from Italy and showing off his skills. at one time he had a fiat with a 40ft spread
axle tilt driving round a circuit with one side up in the air like with the leyland. pritty inpressive.

My first was was a Buffalo, reg HOM 629L only had it a short while, heater did’nt work, no power steering, and that was in the early 80’s but as i spent alot of my previous years shunting, loading, roping & sheeting it did’nt seem to matter, then i was put onto a Buffalo 2,
reg UFP 316X, it had a jennigs conversion sleeper,. at the time i thought it was fantastic and managed to spend a night out with a girlfriend once, a bit cramped but we got by!!! Also had my first and only front wheel blow out, full load of castings from Listers of Dursley and 60mph on the M5, that’s when we still carried spares, jack the famous L shaped wheel brace and piece of scaffold pole!
Then along came a brand new Roadtrain with full sleeper and…wait for it…the 290 ■■■■■■■■
the reg was A115 UVV was i now king of the road or what! will dig out what few pictures i have and try to load them.
