Hi wardg, you mention Frank R Sandham, he had 2 ERF artics and 1 iveco 4 wheeler, they used to park up at treetops bruntingthorpe. At the time i was on for AML Transport and when Frank Sandham finished we bought a unit and trailer XRY 836Y with a 290 ■■■■■■■ in it. His lad Andre R Sandham drove the other E355 SRY. I actually had the pleasure of driving XRY 836Y for a couple of months. Remember seeing Neil Harbys turbostar and scanny. White with blue writing.
Not got those 2 Sandhams, the only 2 on my records are HPV 191Y & E340 LAY, still depended on what was passing by when I was doing my paperround! Neil Harbys Ivecos were pretty much like the demonstrator livery, I’ve got noted G499 BVN, G821 APY, H305 EAY & M716 HRY (Eurotech); Scania’s L12 TLS & L993 HDC and even a Foden H123 RWJ
Hi wardg, the Sandhams ERFs, he definately had XRY 836Y, it had a mid lift fitted, which made it a pig to steer and gave it a useless turning circle. And yes your right about E340 LAY, where was he parked when you did your paper round ?
Wardg,i think J Holman’s ERF was a B series day cab(GunnerH will remember).
Hi colinwallace, The 1st ERF i can recall seeing of John Holmans was similar to the one adr pictured of John Wards NNR 209P .

Hi GunnerH,the B series is the earliest of J Holman’s i can remember.Bob James had 2 5MW’s (same as NNR209P), they were both red.Think one of them was GEH511N, as J Simmon’s 7MW was GEH513N.
Is Derek Goodwin running the garage at Shroppy’s? Last time i spoke to him about 2.5 years ago he was just about to start there.

Derek Goodwin’s still running the garage at Shroppies, must’ve been more than 2.5yrs ago since you spoke to him cause i’ve been there 3yrs an he was there before me, probably only just tho’.
And yes your right, Bob james did have a couple too, as well as an A series

I would think Sandhams would have been running back to Bruntingthorpe when I saw them. I probably saw the others, but up until about 88, the only notes I made would have been the make & model number in my trusty little notebook

Alright hanson, yes simon j sargent won a leyland roadtrain in truck mag. His 2nd lorry was a red Magnum and i was at Pinnacles in narborough when it was on its 1st outing, Truck mag were there taking pics of it, and we ran down to dover together that night.
As for Holmes Overseas, yes they used to run abroad all the time. In the late 70s early 80s they had 2 111s and 2 m.a.ns. Then they changed the name to Audnel Freight, ( Audrey & Neil Holmes ).
