The man mountain that is Simon.
Bumped into him a month after I left Leggett’s at Toy’s r us.
After Leggetts, I was a night shift trunk loader at B&Q Swindon. Saw Alan come in on agency work to drive.
Haven’t seen anyone else since leaving.
With the amount of blatant thieving going on at Swindon, I’m not surprised it went under.

He drove for a Swiss firm. Got the motor nicked in Uk. Went back to jack in & they gave him a new motor & he lived happily ever after. Maybe Ossy will get us up to speed on this one?

Tim Jackson was the fitter while I was there. Although like many people working at Leggett’s, Tim wasn’t his proper first name.
There was a strange theme for people using other names there.
Les Regan who was one of the managers. His first name was Clifford.
Herb, didn’t use his real name. Ever. And you never mentioned it in case he wanted to burn another stack of pallet’s.
I did know Tim’s first name, but it escapes me now. Although I have a sneaky feeling it may of been Jack. I’m probably wrong.

Sorry Harry cant help you there, he seems to have vanished, still talk to Ian Gibbs , Clive White and Ray Truscott but even they haven’t seen him about, last I heard was he got a job on Tate & Lyle but it didn’t last then he done a bit for Jimmy Pengely (spelling) since then nothing, then he was good at doing vanishing acts, still it would be nice to know what he’s up too.
Clunk, What about RRRRRRodney any ideas
Ossie
the mechanics name was graham The reason i do not use my real name is that it gets shortened to a name that i dislike hence the “herb” this nickname was given to me by a driver back in the early 80’s by the name of W jones he always said that i was a right little herbert and so herb stuck here is a pic of steve smithers with the mechanic Barry C
That Icopal stuff was a pain in the arse.
ketter for me was worse lighter than icopal but more bulk to it and quite often badly shrink wrapped A lot of the times it was loaded on to the top deck and just fell over! or it was loaded and then other goods stacked on top of it
The contract for it was an Enfield one it ended up with whole consignments turning up without none or little warning that it was on its way still they were the good old days I wonder what happened to Younis?

Good to hear from you Oz,give my regards to the gentle giant when you speak to him next.I’m starting to miss the road after this never-ending Winter.
Hi Harry,
Well today’s the day my HGV runs out, not going to renew it again, so its all over, from tomorrow cant even do some one a favour and run a motor here or there, after 50 years that’s going to seem strange, are well all good things have to come to an end some time.

Hi Jacko,
Clive bought the lorry of the feller he worked for in Harlow a (Globetrotter if I remember rightly) then bought a trailer and worked for himself doing Greece, Italy, Spain and Swiss, after a couple of years had a look at a new Volvo FH but it would have been to expensive to maintain so ended up buying a second hand left hand drive Magnum, up until about the time you saw him he was doing OK but rates started to drop, so he put the motor up for sale, a feller from East Germany came over to buy it thinking it was just a unit and found out Clive had thrown the trailer in as well, the man was well pleased. Clive’s now working for an Agrochemical company in the Wisbech area, no nights away and earning a lot more without the agro of owning your own motor,
Still in touch with Dave Stallman, another one that’s called it a day.
What’s your dad Roy doing these days? Hope he’s OK.
Ossie
