Left hand drive gears

This may seem stupid to some but I can’t work the gears in a left hand drive lorry can any one help

All the low gears are closer to you.Better IMO .

Does any one have a picture of the way the gears are

I find it more natural using gears driving lhd vehicles, could be because I am left handed…go figure  , with a sway to ambidextrous, and no thats not a ■■■■■■ disease
I used to drive rhd buses semi autos many moons ago Leyland Nationals and the gears where on the right they just felt more natural and comfortable and my arm was still up by the window getting a tan :sunglasses:

No but was driving a left hand drive 164 not on the road and couldn’t get the ■■■■■■■ into gear

Gearbox should be exactly the same as a right hand drive. It’s just your sat on the other side of it.

Can’t work out if this is a ■■■■ take because of the other thread about changing gears. The gearbox is exactly the same configuration to a RHD vehicle. You’re just sat on the other side of the stick.

Thanks for the help must be my right arm then

It’s just cause your not used to it like if you try and brake with your left foot you will brake much harder than you mean too. And being a 164 with probably a lot of miles on the clock, the syncros in the gearbox get worn and require a bit of reving and double clutching to get into gear.
I drove an r420 with high mileage on an assessment once and it would not go into any gear without a bit of persuasion but fresher scanias I’ve driven with the same type of gearbox go into gear first time even when cold.

I should say this was the first lorry I ever drove it was a few years ago and it put he off driving abit

here is a left hand gearbox…walk away whistling!!!

As others have said the gate is just the same as a RHD but you sit the other side of the stick and yes I am left handed as well.

When I used to work for Mortimers you never knew what side of the cab you sat and what side of the road you drove on from one week to the next.

The worst bit was whether you had a 12, 14 or 16 speed box to play with

How about a lhd twin splitter gear stick top ,now that would take some getting used to.perhaps the air pipes could be connected the other way round to high and low ,leaving supply and middle range pipes in the same way ?

The hard bit is when swap back to RHD, and continually punch the window to your right looking for a gearstick!

Hello Jim hows things. Bet you wish you had the DENNIS back some days how many gearsticks do you get with that only in America could they come up wie something like that quite pleased the Foden only had 12 to worry about. Eddie.

I would need to get a steering wheel and pedals and gear stick for a computer and buy euro truck simulator 2 wonder how much that would cost
