Too many here are slaves to “official sources”.
I doubt that any vehicles catch fire “spontaneously”.
I suspect that many vehicles are ignited when the fire spreads from the driver to the vehicle.

A spontaneous chemical reaction is one that, once started, proceeds to completion without requiring continuous external energy input, often favoring product formation and an increase in overall entropy.
I can give an example if you like. The fuse box on the p6 takes proper 1/4" fuses not 6mm. The 0.35 mm (aprox the width of the human hairs) creates a poor connection ie a resistance. this produces heat which causes corrosion which causes more resistance which causes more heat which causes more corrosion on and on and on until there is an electrical fire. the difference is this happens over a long period of time and is easily checked on and even if it does cause a fire the smoke is a give away and as soon as you disconnect the battery the issue is dealt with. With an ev you can not disconnect the power source as its that that is on fire.
I don’t give a flying ■■■■ what you or anybody else thinks.
Luton airport, you prick.
oh yes it was a diesel with blue flames of course just so happens that diesel doesnt burn like that and doesnt produce visible clouds of vapor but dont let reality cloud your judgement or common sense.
You’re brainwashed by Farage & his band of climate denying idiots, here cop a load of this.
nope im brainwashed by the laws of physics and thermodynamics
Besides being anti EV.
EVs don’t spontaneously combust near me.
Trust me, I’ve been called a jonah for a long long time.
Heck, I was rolling down a hill other year, and some guy driving up, started to look like he had a bright red light under his bonnet. Gets closer, his engine compartment was on fire. That was an ICE not EV. Never come across an EV on fire in my life, but seen loads of burning or burnt out ICE vehicles. Fire in action maybe twice a year, burnt out wrecks more. Unless you want to claim I won’t see any EV fires because they have a 20 mile exclusion zone, which is a fair point if it was true.
The vast majority of lithium fires are dodgy Chinese E bikes. It’s not been spontaneous, but simply due to cheap and nasty batteries being overcharged with cheap and nasty chargers. Cause and effect.
Just like the vast majority of ICE fires appear to be when the fuel line is broken due to bad maintenance, and the fuel ignites on the hot exhaust pipe. Home mechanics using the wrong grade plastic, or not correctly routing and securing the pipework. Or trying to soup it up.
The other major difference is that the EV as now is still relatively modern and developing technology, whereas ICE is very mature, even though it still blows up and burns.
Remember this only recently
So yeah, why wouldn’t there be a few teething problems with lithium batteries, we don’t want fires of course, but think back to the earliest days of EV automobiles. Cars regularly did blow up and catch fire, and caused damage to surrounding buildings and other road users. Because all standards then were less developed to now.
Give it a few more years and the problem of runaway lithium fire hopefully will be sorted. Incidentally, as far as I know far far far more deliberate arson and assault/murder cases involve the criminal scumbags using petrol, not lithium. But almost anyone can still saunter up to a petrol pump and get 5 litres. Maybe we should look into that.
Or you owed a Renault car, famous for their electric wiring fires
A great Google there. However, i suggest a little more understanding of Chemistry.
However, you are falling victim of the (rugby) knock on phenomena where a ball is fumbled and a player desperately tries to claim it went backwards while fumbling for it.
You said - death trap. regardless of your desperate google fumbling the evidence is there that EV’s are far asafer. Chemical reactions have nothing to do with the facts you claom.
Perhaps cancel the Daily Mail subscription.
If you need lessons i studied aeronautics.
Sad it to inform you it was an ICE vehicle. The report, and investigation about it was actually circulated by the CAA.
Thank you! Enjoy the rest of your day ■■
Absolutely.
To add leccy trucks ain’t going to work in the real world in anything short of a Scandinavian spec LHV drawbar outfit. With a 6 wheeler rigid’s worth of battery capacity.
Exactly which EV provides over 600 miles of range for 40 minutes charge.
The Jaguar I Pace is around 250 miles if you don’t use the headlights and heater and wipers and takes more than 40 minutes to charge it.
My old V12 provides similar range if I don’t drive it like I stole it.But much quicker to fill up.
To be fair the I Pace is as much fun to drive but bleedin uncomfortable for a 200 mile run let alone 600 or more.
I can live with EV’s at least something like an F Pace with more than SVR V8 power. But we know this is all about control and motoring reserved only for a very rich elite.
My EV gives me 350 miles (Google them). Supposedly it will give 406 miles but i dont get that. From 20 -80% takes around 22 minutes. that would give me a range of 560 miles. If i sat on the chargers for another 17 minutes i would get me another 11% making my range 598M. A further 10 minute wee stop would make that C700m.
I hear nothing but bad things about the I pace; it’s not a great EV by all accounts. I have never driven one though.
ok then so what is thermal runaway and does it require an external heat source?
what is a belve? and does it result in a spurt of flame or a rapidly expanding flame aka a fire ball?
what is the kpa rating of a fuel tank
what temperature would you have to reach and how much fuel would be needed to create that pressure.
now suppose all that was possible how many fuel tanks does the average car have. how many bangs with additional spurts of flame were in the luton video?
what colour vapour do you get from burning rubber and what colour do all the reports say was spotted coming from the engine bay.
