But last thing Iâd want is an eletric fire engine tuning up.
Or sorry chief canât go right now batteryâs not charged up enough.
Or get there and half way though putting fore out batteryâs go flat and .pumps fail
âUp to 300 miles rangeâ obviously isnât going to make 8 hours let alone 9 hours of a âlong haulâ driving shift without stopping for recharging.
Also whatâs the weight ?.
It will take Scandinavian and NZ type LHVs to make EV trucks work.In which the prime mover is a dedicated locomotive and battery pack.
Meanwhile services across Europe are packed with parked trucks over night often overflowing onto slip roads.Recharging facilities for all those no chance.

how would you feel sleeping overnight in an electric truck ? . i wouldnât get a winks sleep for worrying about it going on fire .
Take 2 of them out on every journey in case the other catches fire.
the hype around the electric vehicle is just that. Biggest marketing con job for decades.
Round where i live several folk got the leccy car , charger on the wall etc but now i notice the charger has ivy growing over it theyre now back with a diesel/petrol vehicle this says it all to me

The âConâ job starts in earnest from the beginning of 2027 when the new emissions trading system named ETS2 kicks in that will cover road transport & buildings.
It will be fuel suppliers, rather than end consumers such as households or car users, that will be required to monitor and report their emissions.
These entities will be regulated under the ETS2, which means they will be required to surrender sufficient allowances to cover their emissions. Regulated entities will purchase these allowances at auctions. The ETS2 cap will be set to bring emissions down by 42% by 2030 compared to 2005 levels.
They said it wont be end users who will be liable for these costs but I wouldnât trust Big Oil to tell me the correct time of day.
Must be why theyâve started to sell fuel stations in the thousands across Europe, Even Tesla has been buying Shell petrol stations to convert to a EV Chargering hub. The truck building industry MAN, Volvo, Scania have been getting their skates on of late with new electric lorries & infrastructure.
I wouldnât call ÂŁ1.40 for around 4 kwh, including 53p duty and 20% VAT, a con.
As opposed to around 25p per kWh + equivalent fuel duty and VAT.
So when you got your head down at night in the bunk,âŚBe honest after seeing all those vids of buses cars etc spontaneously bursting into flames, you would not be at least a little worried?

No not really, Battery tech is changing so fast that in six months time new technology will be much safer with different chemistries, faster charging times & more range.

Given some of the vids Iâve seen, the LAST thing you would need would be ANY form of heater.
Why are we not building these electric buses here? We have our own bus manufacturers & have one of the biggest bus networks in Europe, yet Spain builds them.
Weâre becoming like Germany with sky-high energy & wage costs & canât compete.
With all the emission mandates, it wonât be much longer before every major town & city will be a ULEZ & weâll need many more electric buses.
They didnât catch on/succeed, and until filling station 5 minute charging is the norm, neither will the latest ârush to electricâ cars. 20 years ago we were being urged to buy diesel engined cars (I did), now we are pariahs polluting the planet. And just in the UK whereâs all the electricity generating power going to come from when millions of vehicles TRY to charge overnight?
IMO the rush to electric is poorly thought out and is doomed to failure.
We should have the answer in 20 years time when we are all being urged to go hydrogen power.
And remember folks, hydrogen is the most abundant element in the universe/planet, itâs everywhere.
Hydrogen exhaust is mainly water vapour which is a far more effective greenhouse gas than CO2 added to by electric generator turbine exhaust.
While cutting down trees for biomass and covering farmland in solar panels and the risk of a Chernobyl happening anywhere and everywhere.
