As long as the sun shines, we could in theory keep recharging batteries for EVs. If the electric motors aren’t over stressed, they can last donkeys years with just two bearings to change periodically perhaps.
You do know that electric vehicles were around before 1853 when the first oil refinery int he good ole US of A was bolted together. The guys with the oil had more wealth than the guys with the lead. Gasoline won the fight so here we are now slowly getting back to where we might have been if Rockefeller hadn’t have come along.

Why we should get our own boat in order is this. Oil isn’t gonna last for ever and ever and ever. The less iof it we use now, the longer we have to come up with a really green energy i.e. not nuclear or ■■■■■■■■ like that.
And by getting to net zero as fast as we can, we then have the moral high-point to cudgel the other polluters, who at the moment are saying exactly the same excuse for not doing anything.
Why our current efforts at net zero are punishing bad for poorer people is the same reason why every other aspect of bleedin capitalism is bad for poorer people.
The ■■■■■■ rich no matter what it is, keep creaming the top 90% off all for themselves. Put the solar panels on roofs around town, not in fields taking up nearly as much land as trump’s gold courses. Take energy out of the capitalist trading system, like housing should be. Energy, housing, health, food, education should all be outside of the miserable grip of greedy capitalists.

ICE powered vehicles won out simply because they are better than EV’s.The energy density of petrol and diesel is way better than batteries.
Those ‘oil guys’ are still providing more energy for less cost than those electric guys as our resident CCP bot would find out at 27per kWh or more + fuel duty + 20% VAT.
EV users are just taking advantage of tax breaks and loss leader pricing for home charging at the expense of the NHS and freezing pensioners.
That Iveco s-way electric truck is one beastie with over 1000HP peak power. It flies up gradients freighted.
Yeah I asked if LP had only used brand new EVs in his trouble free motoring,.as opposed to older used ones,…but was told it was none of my business.

I think that they aint ready yet in terms of development, and not yet fully fit for purpose…but certainly will be given time.

we are 112th in the world for air quality and 25th for poloution. The amount caused by cars is around 1% of that.
So why the big push… People need to get around thatcher etal smashed up the public transport system so that is no longer fit for purpose and would cost far too much to put right even if it did go back under control of the gov. So what do we do… push cars… that way we can raise capital with the rfd but there is an issue cars now can do 200k miles with out breaking a sweat and last a decade at least. so we cant rely on the i need a new car every 2 years brigade to fill the hole so they have to fill em with more and more crap. Cant do that anymore people have seen through it so jump on the global enviroment scam and push electric cars.
btw anyone that spends 10’s of thousands on a car that cant go more than 300 miles with out having to stop for hours to charge is an idiot when they can spend 500 on one that will do that all day long and take 5 min to fill up
