Threshfield quarry was mothballed December 2001 with some redundancies during 2002/03 all the crushing /grading plant was removed. When planning was granted to extract a further 24 million tonnes from Swinden quarry in 2008 this was the last nail in the coffin for the Threshfield quarry having walked into the upper quarry recently there are millions of tonnes still left up there to be quarried

Few photos from Threshfield Quarry entrance, mostly next to ■■■■ Lambert’s workshop. When lightening struck the quarry in August 1989, the main weighbridge went out of commission and the loads had to weighed down at the old weighbridge, which meant ‘double’ weighing the artics, as they were too long, where some of the photos were taken!!!

Evening Barry ,some blasts from the past there ,did you ever take any photos of ivor johns motors ?

Very nice photos mate. The exhaust pipe on the MAN looks rather vulnerable though!

Skipton Rock eh, the only Tilcon quarry that I ever went into for a load and was verbally abused by the folk there for no obvious reason. I did one load of asphalt to the M61 and never darkened its doors again! :unamused: Strange how these things stick in your mind after 20+ years.

Pete.

Can anyone tell me where there is a dis-used quarry that I could potentially use as storage etc

Preferably in the Skipton area

Thanks

Do you know who owns Kinsey Quarry?
