Chris sent in the photo of the solvent works at Rye harbour road its still there mate and right opposite is the current yard of Eric Bourne the well known East Sussex removal company. Back around 1961 i spent a few months working for Erics cousin Dave Bourne who ran Turks Removals at Lydd and spent a few miles up and down the country in the bedford TK i can still remember how uncomfortable that centre seat was on a long journey
Whilst trawling this site and i think it will take years to go through it all i noted a request i think from Mark R for photos of H E Woodcock of Headcorn and think any new items will be better placed in the Kent thread so heres a couple of oldies Mark, got some more but they are still on neqs and will need to get them printed
cheers
Les
And whilst we are ferreting around in Headcorn a photo of the workshops of South East Farmers on the Biddenden road now the depot of Alan Lock
Earlier in the thread Del from Derek Linch mentioned the two models i made for them long ago here is the tractor trailer unit and the vehicle it was based on, brand new at the time this was at the old depot at Ivychurch
Good morning Les, lovely to see those pictures, what a fantastic truck that 1644 was we got it brand new from Sparshatts, it was on their stand at the Kent Show. It was stolen from our Ivychurch depot and never seen again, i expect its still flying down some African dirt track.
Del
I spent my early career in East Kent, there were a few companies knocking around the Thanet/Sandwich/Dover area. Don’t have any specific photos but there was a few on the Romac thread. There was Garretts of course but we spent most of out time abroad.
And Micky White’s outfit of course
Just found another photo of the Rye Harbour solvent recovery place with the Lock’s MAN blowing my mate’s load off.
Nice old Woodcocks photos there Les, thanks. And Del…you wer’nt the only one mate, my 2035 was stolen from a layby on the Isle of Sheppey while i was at home. I’d parked it there once or twice a week in 1993, and one morning went back to find the trailer there on its own!. Lots of them went the same way.
Do you have any photos of Woods lorries Les?.
an earlier post mentioned colin ashby and a daniel ashby.
as us kent lot know colin ashby was an old school and well respected haulier, but he decided to sell out to a chap called steve daniels hence the daniel ashby, and after the take over the new lot messed it up and the ashby name disappeared altogether.

Yes, that was a bit of a hybrid design in the early days of computer graphics, although the red and yellow stripes were computer printed, the lettering was still traditional hand-painted signwriting.

Just there for decoration and distraction!

I dont think i have any of Woods Marc but will have a search, been collecting the kent stuff for years but still have loads of gaps to be filled and it gets harder to find stuff hence this thread. Found a couple more Woodcock prints of two ERF tractor trailer units Jamie i will need to take the neqs for printing for more
