There was a poorly one in the yard today with a blown turbo :frowning:

Nice photos…I didn’t realise he had so many.

I think Harrier Express are up to 17, including the one rigid. :sunglasses:

A couple more of Harrier Express from the recent past.

Hi. Robert1952, That is a splendid old photo of Swains, I wonder if there is any of the drivers still around the worked for them in those days, Loading & delivering those sacks would be a hard toil, but no doubt the old rivers copped with it, Drivers wouldn’t be expected to do such things nowadays, H A S Would have a fit just thinking about it Eh, Thanks for posting this, Regards Larry.

You’re right Larry. I loaded 45 gallon drums on pallets from Sovereign chemicals for somewhere on the Wirral. When I got there, no mechanical unloading!

It must have taken 4 hours to unload 20 tons. There was a definite knack to tilting and rolling a 250 kg drum! I wasn’t very good at it, but unless I helped, I would never get emptied!

The other guys had done it many times, so as a lad in my early twenties, they took the ■■■■ out of me. Another lesson learnt!

John.

Fully agree with Larry what a good un` that is, I see that the company has just invested in new Daf models to the fleet!

Does anyone remember Mereworth Motors who used to be in The Alders on Seven Mile Lane just off the A26? IIRC it was run by Tom Fagg with a selection of vehicles in brown and yellow? Some of the artics were Maggie Deutz I think.

Before Mereworth I am almost certain they were based at Gallants farm,Gallants lane in Farleigh.
I can remember them running an ERF B series drawbar flat, but can’t remember if the ERF was a 4 or 6 wheeler.

Looks like a Kraz to me: from the bleak tundric wastes to the blissful domestic kiss of Kent, the Garden of England. Lucky old Kraz! Robert

This is indeed a Kraz, ended up in Auto Renovations livery in Neil Yates Recovery’s yard in Snodland. No idea what happened to it from 2011 onwards. Big hunk of scrap for the metal man?

Barrio getting more mentions recently I notice. I saw Trevor in July. He was quite pleasant really and we chatted a while. Seems to be walking better than last time I saw him, but that was probably 15 years ago. I still speak to Jackie a lot. She has the videos of the blockade of Sittingbourne nick still.

Any good photos kicking around in your loft, Flocko?

Sorry no photos. was never still long enough to take them, and when we were moving there were no cameras in them days that were fast enough to take them.I had no idea about the video would love to see that, seeing as it was me that the blockade was over. at the time of the siege of Sittingbourne nick I was locked up in Leicester ( hope you know the story why all the motors got parked there). Have not seen Trevor for some time,I do get a message from Jackie now and then. Lots of untold stories from my Barrio years that I dont think I can tell to this day for fear of being locked up. Happy days Flocko

Nah, you’d be safe enough with some of the tales. The statute was up years ago for most of it. Mick has been gone almost 18 years. Terrifying isn’t it. Mind you, Alison has been gone almost 5 years now.

I will possibly fly back with Jackie in April so will attempt to get the blockade video onto DVD then.

Hi all, new on hear, thought I’d add a photo of my grandads old 2028 he use to drive for coulling bros back in the day.
