Another Tom Johnston picture, AEC eight wheeler.

The last of the Tom johnston pictures, one of his boxes sitting on the back of an ex W.E. Reeve AEC from the 1950’s, was this picture taken in a dealer’s or breaker’s yard?

Hi jonto I think Tom Johnston took over W E Reeve and that is probably his yard at Detling.Paul

Another blast from the past, Arnold Transport, Gravesend.

Tom Johnston /W E Reeve did have the yard at top of detling,i thought w e reeve took over tom johnson as when i started driving my 1st job was for w e reeve at sittingbourne and we had 1 a e c 4 wheeeler that was in tom johnson colours.w e reeve was eventually taken over by the george hammond group of dover which in turn was taken over by dodds.

Another for the Kent thread. Anyone else got any Kent stuff?.

Hi Mark,
some ot the fotos are not very good but here they are.

here’s another no longer running IAN THORNE i think he died last year but the firm ceased trading years ago not sure when.

a few of DODDS.

a few BARRIO’S

here’s a few more

mick.c:
a few of DODDS.

Again, another fleet painted that unbelievably exciting shade of white :frowning: . Dodds used to look smart with the blue cab with their white tautliners, I remember them running some Fodens with the Union Jack painted across the cab-top wind deflector  , now they just look like all the other corporate fleets :frowning:

Nice pics Mick ( even though ive seen them before as you well know ). I thought the Barrio Volvo that went through the flats at Maidstone was an F12 not an F88…I’ll ask Kenny when i next see him, i think he helped with the clear up.

Here are some more SEAS Pictures, taken in 2002. The Volvos had only recently been delivered.

Tyreman,

Sorry for picking this up a little bit late, have you got a picture of a SEAS unit reg no S25 EAS. I’m interested as I spent 3 yrs driving it for Humphrey Hulme at Wingham, doing mainly bulk work and some farm flat work carting fruit into store. They still have it now, it does odd work now and again. Those SEAS motors and their livery is quite distinctive, I was interested to see S15 EAS that you posted as I never saw any others that looked like the one I drove. I was fond of that unit, I have some pic just need to work out how to post them from an iPad(any ideas apprieciated).

thanks
Tim.

Anyone got any pics of the old Barrio trucks… Mick Baldock AKA Splitpins firm from out of Newington?

Mick died back in 97 and the firm didn’t survive under the new management… Sadly, Micks daughter passed away earlier this month (she was my wife) and I would love to have a few pics from when Mick was running things.

Hi splitpins f88 is now owned by robinsons up in Boston lincolnshire
Had the pleasure of getting up on the 88 and having a real good look in her
It’s now in robinsons livery but real nice to see it again
