kent transport

postman paul:
Hi all,
More pictures of this good looking fleet please, if anybody has any.Paul

Not 100% sure but i think Colin Ashby was taken over by Cert Dist in the mid 90,s , Cert had a depot down in Marden don,t know what happen to that anyone got more info please

Think you’ll find that the Depot Manager/Transport manager at Cert (John Daniels), Marden was keeping Colin Ashby busy as main sub-contractor with a private arrangement ?

Colin Ashby himself was unwell at the time and when Cert found out what was happening, Manager left quickly and took over running of Colin Ashby fleet as " Daniels Ashby ", moved to SE London, ran it into the ground and closed down.

Sad storey to long established Kent transport company.

Hi propa lorry. I am well and living in New York City, last driving job in UK was at Eclipse Recovery. I don’t remember that about the injectors, never had any trouble with K315 GBE. Do remember Harry but not you I’m afraid.
I was only on Dockspeed for 9 months as we had a disagreement about how many days in a week!
Safe driving!

Hi Ozzyhugh, Mostly true, but it was Steve Daniel and it was DANIEL ASHBY also he brought the transport side of the business not the warehouse, property and storage side(which Colin still owned) and could not run it properly( my opinion) sold all the trucks and then rented them back, hence the new Volvo’s.My father worked for Colin for 24 years and DANIEL ASHBY for less than a year and then took redundancy, just before they finished.Paul

I know the driver of this Lenham Storage truck they used to run…

Love the 50 years aniversery logo on the trailer ,nice :sunglasses: :sunglasses:

He supplied all but one of the pictures because he’d worked there for nearly 40 years

yes that was Keith Godden in the pilots seat.He was a very good friend mine.Sadly he is no longer with us he died in france many years ago.his brother Mick is still driving trucks for a living i think he works for John(leadfoot)Nott.

Jonathan Earnshaw:
Oh yes I remember Henleys. Was it Jack Henley? So long ago I’m not sure. And yes Fred Anscombe. Do you remember the sons name who ran it when Fred took a back seat?
In an earlier post Merrydown in Horam was mentioned. Does anybody recall the name of the haulage firm located virtually at the front entrance?
Another one that comes to mind from long ago…Portway anyone?
