Mark -here’s one of Teynham’s finest. Date is Feb 1999. Next to it is one of the N reg Scania 6 wheel fridges.
ref Bernie jordan/ spoke to my mate rob jordan not related just coincidence. he has now joned T N and said he will put some old photos of becks old traders on here.cheers mick.
Tyreman… S132 CKO was driven by my old mate Rob ( Jiffy ) Young. Rob has since left the company and has set up his own driving school in Canterbury. Rob was always known for his clean truck and was originally with Henleys at Hersden nr Canterbury before they were bought out by WRM.
Mick…Funny enough i saw Bernie in the town today. I’d like to see the old Beckys photos from your friend if he has any. I remember them having the Ford D Series but not the Traders ( before my time ).
yes it will be good for all to see. il keep on his case. him and his dad rember berni well. its a small world in transport even smaller on T NET. cheers mick.
FKL 158Y volvo f10 belonging to d w bennett & sons of sheerness.
the main bulk of their work for many years was spanish produce out of pascual fruit importers of paddock wood.
even though the company doent exist anymore i am almost certain that daves 3 sons, alan, chris and dave still run their own small transport companies from the island still
Be nice to see some older Becks trucks. He had a W reg D Series in the old green livery.

You are correct. There are two companies owned by two of the brothers. Al-Le Logistics is Alans, and Dave runs as Dave Bennett. Both run Volvos. DW Bennett ran until 1999, when Al-Le and DWB went there own ways.

Bennetts ( post DW Bennett ) are very active.Always see them on the roads near me.
Went passed Dave Bennetts yard last week on a Saturday,a few of the trucks all lined up, actually looked very smart. All Volvo FH and mainly solid white in colour with headboards as Dave Bennett, seem to have quite a few trucks now.
Even noticed this week they now have a fridge in exactly the same sign written livery (style) as the old ’ DW Bennett’ but is now written across the trailer as ’ Dave Bennett ’
Pull a lot of refrigerated containers, presumably out of Sheerness docks.
The yard is just further down Cullett Drive from Croome…Cullett Drive on that Saturday was strewn full of Croome drawbars parked literally all along the road…( with the european drivers living in the cabs ) Croome depot nowhere big enough to house all the trucks when they all come back to base at the same time !

The lorries with DW Bennett on are owned by Darren Bennett ( Alans son ) and yes he does have quite a few now. As far as im aware Alan does’nt have anything to do with the lorries nowdays and AL-LE Logistics was wound up years ago. Alans brother Dave ( Darrens uncle ) runs as Dave Bennett Distribution.
I think the trailer you refur to is DW Bennett ( Darren ) not Daves.
Just to add some more confusion, I passed a Volvo pulling a trailer liveried “D.W. Bennet Logistics Ltd” on the A249 this afternoon.
I am here: tapatalk.com/map.php?bj335k
Thanks Mark and TDL,
Yes that’s the trailer I was thinking of…as you say TDL, it is becoming very confusing trying to keep up with all the variations of Bennett owned firms, past and present, keeps us on our toes though…!
Bit of a mixture here (and not a great scan of the photo), foreground is an owner driver from Ashford who ran under the name of “Triple R Transport”, a 2033 if I remember correctly.
Left is the 2nd Mercedes Benz “Truckers Truck” prepared by Sparshatts, next to that is a Towmaster tractor waiting fro delivery after painting, and behind that is the last batch of Whitrux artics, waiting for livery after paint.
Thats a great photo of the Sparshatts yard. What ever happend to the ‘Truckers Truck’ ?.
The 2nd Truckers truck was sold to T Brady by MB off the motor show stand circa mid 80’s.
Also, i went to a 40th birthday party at the weekend. While i was there i got talking to a chap who said he used to work at Sparshatts. His name was Mick ( i think Harris ) do you remember him? Think it was about 20 years ago though.
Jarvy:
As promised
