I still work for Renault Trucks - we are owned by Renault themselves now - 29 years in total come July :open_mouth:

Are you still driving Paul - something better than a TR305 no doubt - even though LLU 370V was one of the better ones  Do you think that was down to the driver or the fitters that looked after it

Steve

those tr305 were very rare then ,so rare other drivers of them used to flash , i think at first there was about 2 or 3 hauliers using them pollock, phillip morris ,jwq, cant think of anybody else, they were a good truck to drive , but i remember moans from anybody doing work on the wiring it seems it was all the same colour black, and we did have some problems with 5th wheel they were on a slider , and if we coupled to a 38ft trailer they were spread axle 1st axle on trailer i lifted it of ground , they were supplied by GARDNER BROS from west drayton ,

Yes all the wiring was Black with coloured tags at each end.The tags went brittle and fell off leaving a mass of Black wires.
Are you sure they were flashing their headlights or did they have electrical faults and they were coming on on their own

Steve

[quote=“daf3300”, and the fitter WINDRUSH mentioned about the oil was it by chance DAVE ELVIN ?, BACK TO BED CHAPS[/quote]
The fitter that I was referring to was a Scotsman named Bill Strathern, he would have worked for them around the early '70’s when they were on Katesgrove Lane (I think). He worked with me at Morris Garages on Castle Hill and was “dismissed” when our foreman found him sharpening a very large knife to “sort out” a new employee who had done the dirty deed with Bill’s missus!! I left Reading in 1974 so it was well before then.

Pete.
