All I know about him is that he was from Silloth. Other H & ME Fearon drivers:-

Volvo F7 - Walter Smith from Maryport
Volvo F10 - Dave Joyce from Silloth
Mercedes 1626 Joe Hunter(?) from Bothel, he also had a pilots licence and I believe he owned a small plane
The two Scania 81’s were driven by Andy Penrice who was also a pub landlord from Crosby Villa and the other one was driven by a man from Torpenhow
Scania 111’s were driven by “Willie Wombat” Kenny Nelson, a man from Wigton who’s CB handle was “Super ■■■■”, and Joe Mounsey from Aspatria who went to work for Tyson Burridge.
One of the Scania 112’s was driven by a young lad who used to drive for Watson Studholme his CB handle was “Popped Rivet”, he’ll be in his mid 50’s now.

Other drivers were another man called Penrice from Scales and Raymond Rudd from Wigton.

They also had a couple of owner drivers one called Alf Buchanan who had a red DAF 2800 and another from Aspatria with a V reg Scania.

I imagine Bewick being very envious after reading about these superb drivers!

No, not envious in any way as I’ve no doubt they were all decent lads fra’ that part of the world !! but at Bewick Transport I could name three drivers of the same calibre for everyone of those Marras you’ve named,no danger ! Cheers Dennis.

There was also Brian Stoddart aka Lofty from Silloth, who sadly died a couple of years ago, Barry Strick, also Viv Lightfoot before he became an o/d, a guy called Brian from Wigton, and the ex. W S driver would be Ian Faulder, Eddie helped me a few times in late 70s when I was young and green, he is retired now at Silloth. (Are you sure he didn,t drive the 95 George?) Is the o/d Alf Buchanan still around? he must be a good age now, last time I saw him was at the Fleece in late 80s.

I never knew that Viv Lightfoot drove for H & ME Fearon, you learn something everyday! Does Ian Faulder have his own lorries now (see the blue Scania above)?

Brian Stoddart or Barry Strick could be the driver from Wigton I mentioned with the unusual CB handle. The last time I saw Alf Buchanan was around 1983 in the Golden Fleece he still had a red DAF 2800 pulling a tipper. I do not know much about John Irving’s fleet so I am not sure if Eddie had the DAF 95, I only remember him driving the 2800 in the early eighties.

The only John Irving driver I knew was a lad called Martin Penn who I went to school with.

Hello georgeking and robroy,
Thankyou for that interesting infomation. I too didn’t know Viv S Lightfoot drove for Irvings/H & ME Fearon. Thankyou very much again marra’s
Ian Faulder does run his own lorries now. He has three (I think) all Scanias (1 Scania 143, 1 Scania 4 series & 1 Scania R series) which are all on Tyson H Burridge subcontracting work. Two of the lorries are kept at Victor Thompsons yard at Flimby and one is kept at his house in Kirkbride. I’m also sure he has 1 of the trailers he owns in his own livery??
Kindest Regards
Thankyou again

Hello little ha ba and Paul A,
Thankyou for that infomation. I only thought there was a yard at Workington due to the Workington Tel No. on the side of some of the lorries.
little ha ba, how many lorries in total did Irving’s run as I been told it was around the 25/30 mark??
