James c ashworth of bradford

YOUNGDAVE:
Re Ramne Ashworth did have a V8 reg kky 619G it was one of the first.Crocket got it new he had it for many years up to geting the 110 scania to my knowlege.

Was it troublesome ?

Don’t know Ramone i suspect it had it’s problems like all the others. I know Ashworth put a bigger headertank on which would indicate water troubles. When brother Jack went to see Ashworth about a job in the early 70s he said go down the yard and pick a motor. He saw the V8 with no engine in , went back and asked whats up with the V8 Ashy said if you want it theres a new engine in the garage. He spent sometime putting the engine in before putting it back on the road which as far as i know was a later version of the engine and he had no major problems with it

I think they suffered from overheating problems

Glad you got the photos from vaughan.Kieth is the man that worked for mick he then whent to bakers for a lot of years.Left after having heart attack ,when he recoverd he eventuly ended up & thompson davis looking after the store at calverly. He had the photo with

ago.I liked kieth he was a good mate got to know him when he worked for Beatys of bradford,

Keith used to live in Denholme I remember the foden he had at bakers dad said he was a workaholic like farmer he never slept

Yes petter he liked work he was!t shy of it he!d do plenty for bakers, they did quite a lot of mazamet in them days.
He was allso good on the fork truck loading bales.

The picture of the f88 parked on a street is outside crocketts house and the next pic of the same 88 parked with the f12 the driver my dad has now seen the pic and it’s Steve athersly or dr who as he was known

Does anyone have any contact details for Peter booth who worked at ashworths then loyds of Ludlow also scud still can’t get hold of Matthew Pratt my dad has rung him half a dozen times

The first time i meet keith was in 1976 he was driving the m reg f88 for mick moore i was with mick in his new f88 with the 290 engine JNW49N we were tacking some dredging machinery up to Arneim in holland this was unusual work for thompson davis it was usually wool, then we reloaded out of the heyster forklift factory at neimegen , i think keith loaded out of van castrians,i should have had a camera in those days thats when you went though london down archway road, bethnel green, shorditch, holloway, and through the blackwall tunel .A2 farthing corner and before jubilee way was built the old road into dover ,down past the castle, with all the yellow light s coming towards you of the french motors. Then the long wait in dover for a ferry and the quing with paper work on both sides of the water. It was a weeks work in those days .
