Ive applied for trainee bus driver job

ricardo62:
er ok corji? ok busman I might be ok then if I get my provisional pcv licence and then make apt with the doc , maybe I might get my pcv licence maybe it wasn’t properly revoked if theres such a thing

If they put you through your PCV you’ll have to sit a medical, that MIGHT (you might have to slip the doctor a few quid to make a duplicate form) sort your HGV out too.
But, First used their own person for medicals when I worked there which was about 2000 or 2001 ish…

thanks wayne I will enquire if im offered the position

I think it will be very unwise to take this further until you clear this up mate as once you have applied and failed they prob won’t entertain you in the future once you have received treatment. I’m sure even to get a provisional PVC you will need to have a medical at your gp so as soon as your medical goes to dvla they will see the sleep apnea on your records . I’m not trying to pour scorn on your attempt as fining work but you really shud do it properly as it may jump up and bite you in the bum later

It looks to me that if he gets his sleep apnoea sorted then his HGV would be reinstated and he need not bother with buses unless he really wants a change.

really have no inclination to drive hgv anymore I had enough of long distance driving and nights away , so im not really to fussed about getting my hgv back , all the rules and regs you lot have to put up with now , no thanks

Honestly mate, you’re better off, trust me. Service busses are a ■■■■ job.

Read my comment above, as far as I know, street sweepers still don’t need all the tacho crap, not long runs on motorways, could be the answer and you don’t have to deal with the public

Wayne yes that would be fine but ive looked on the local council websites . I presume that’s where the jobs are advertised , and cant see any vacancies , I even called into the depot and asked , and was told no jobs going ? tbh im fellin very depressed at the mo , im beginning to think I will never get a job ,without sounding big headed what is the matter with these companys that want a driver for a van when I have a clean licence , and past skill as class1 , which is the highest level you can obtain re experience and yet they give the job to a person with just a car licence ? if I was an employer and had a guy with professional experience turn up 4 a job to drive my van I would rather give it to him …

You can sign up with Ipswich direct to get alerts to any jobs that arise at Ipswich council before they are advertised elsware

thank you but what and where do I find Ipswich direct

On the councils website at the bottom in the purple bit where it says job vacancies click in it and it’s hi lited in blue click on that to give your details

thanks

The vast majority of bus companies are private and are not connected to the council. It’s best check out the local depots as most depots recruit individually. There are usually a few bus companies operating in any given area.

Instead of looking at the council, try looking for a local firm, we have firms such as cleansweap, I’m sure there’ll be similar down there.
Try a Yell search for street sweapers or something like that.

I don’t mean just normal street cleaning, as much as companies that do it, cleaning around building sites and stuff, where tippers cause a mess and things.

We’ve got quite a few firms up here that do it, so I’d assume it’s the same everywhere.

Council still do our streets

You seriously need to look at cpap again. You only tried it for a week. It took me a month and 5 different masks before I found one that felt comfortable. I’ve been on cpap now for nearly 3 years and it has transformed my life.

You literally have dozens of different masks to try, so to say you didn’t get on with it after a week is just a bit lame really. You have full face, half face, nasal pillows and nasal masks to try. You even have one that covers the entire face.

Go back and sort it out, you’re endangering not only your life but other road users as well. You shouldn’t even be driving a car. And I will tell you now if you have an accident and the insurance company find out you have sleep apnoea you will be royally shafted.

To meet dvla conditions you only have to average more than 4 hours a night. Within one month of me starting I was and still am averaging 7.5 hours a night.

Try large sweeper firms like go plant or others in your area I’m sure you will get a start. No tachos either
