I will cross that bridge when I come to it mikey but at end of day ive gt to keep trying to get back into wrk , maybe my new doctor might not know of my sleep apnea and just give me a medical exam and pass me , who knows , but I have 2 try I cant keep sittin indoors doing nothing
Attempting to get this job whilst having your licence revoked will only end up making matters worse. As once the company find out, which they will very quickly. Then you will never be considered by them ever again, even if you get your licence back.
Do it right or don’t do it at all!!!

I got diagnosed with sleep apnea few mths ago and told the dvla right away, but also told them the sleep clinic was giving me a CPAP machine which works 100% on stopping sleep apnea, you will keep your licence while they contact your doctor and do there diggin. Bottem line is you keep your licence and you never get it revoked in the 1st place !.
By the way I find it strange you got diagnosed with sleep apnea without then getting treatment set up for it as it all happens at a sleep clinic in a hospital, you will need to do a sleep test either at home or at the hospital.
With me I had it all sorted within 2 wks from going to the docs to treatment, I did mention I was a HGV driver so they put me to the top of the list.
Not saying it hasnt taken a lot of getting used to having to sleep with a mask on blowing air into you nose to keep your airways open but I do feel a lot more awake and feel like I slept at night not like before.

young mothers on & off bus with buggy/pushchair (if on a quiet route), handing in any lost property you come across, ensuring elderly/disabled get a seat, advising passengers on stopping points/fares/best(cheapest)tickets/timetables/last buses etc. - all CAN be part of job role!!! Not just about driving!!! Somebody once said ‘bus driving would be a great job - if it weren’t for the passengers!!!’ Ha Ha!!!Good luck
Was all that written tongue in cheek?! I used to get the bus when I was younger, very rarely seen a bus driver do any of that
No, not tongue in cheek at all!!! Depends on certain factors i.e. location, driver’s attitude, no. of passengers on board, time of day etc…etc…
I regularly use Stagecoach around East Coast & their driver’s are (usually) very helpful - advising of cheapest ticket options, which stop to use for a particular venue, often polite, talkative to customers. Compare that with a busy inner-city commuter route & maybe none of the above will apply. I think the more rural the route, the more helpful the driver tends to be - of course - there are always exceptions to both scenarios!!!
I think Stagecoach are one of the best I’ll grant you. First, IMHO are crap.

I did attend sleep study at the hosp ,and was given a cpap machine to use at home tbh I couldn’t get used to it and returned it to the hosp a week later , obviously at the time I didn’t have my licence renewed and just left it ? so I really not sure of the situation now as I have had no contact with my doctor or the hosp since 2008
just got back from interview and I think it all went well, on the matter of my sleep apnea im beginning to wonder now if I actually had my licence revoked ,the reason I say that is because I still have my car licence , im not up on these matters but if I did have serious sleep apnea would I still be allowed to keep my car licence? maybe theres a glimmer of hope and if I do get offered the position and I go to my doctor for a medical and he does all the tests and im passed maybe I will get my provisional licence ?

It does take time to get used to, And you will not get your licence back until you are receiving treatment that helps your condition you also need to tell your car insurance company about your condition, Sleep apnea doesn’t just affect your sleep but also increases your chance of a stroke and high blood pressure and dying in your sleep.
Not to mention Suddenly falling asleep at the wheel and putting other peoples lives in danger!.
Did you try different masks?, you have full face or nose, I use full face as I tend to breath outer my mouth a lot.

I cant remember , I know it was a mask with a tube going to a machine , but I just couldn’t get used to it found it uncomfortable and took it off , I don’t get tired really , the only time I felt tired was when I drove long distance and I found the driving boring as much as anything , when im driving around town I feel fine and alert .

What made your doctor send you for a sleep study?. snoring?
They get you to fill in a questionnaire now and if you have a low score in regards to sleepyness in the day they will tell the dvla if they ask them.
And as stated before it down to you to tell the DVLA about your condition not the doctor. he can just advise you to do it and not to drive if he thinks you are a danger to yourself or others.
yes it was snoring , but the thing is i feel fine now and dnt suffer from tiredness , maybe it was just the boredom of long distance driving and the really early starts , i remember in the old days i used to do Ipswich to aston in makerfield there and back in a day , and used to have 2 leave at 3.30 am to tip at 8 , i used to find the job so monontonous , i guess anyone would be tired doing those sorts of runs in an fl10 , i mean driving a bus round town is hardly going to be so tedious ■■ if i fill in questioner i will be honest and say i don’t suffer from tiredness any more ?

Just be honest.
Did you go for a medical and not pass it is that why you lost your HGV entitlement?
hi its a bit confusing , busman , i went to docs because i was feelng tired and he asked if i snore and i said yes , he then sent me to hosp 4 a sleep study , i spent a night in a ward hooked up to various electrodes and a camera on me , they said i had sleep apnea and gave me a mask , i returned it to the hosp reception a week later and since then ive had no contact or letters about it frm hosp ? so that’s where i am now ■■?

Surly if your livelihood relied on your license you’d find out for sure if it was revoked or not . The easy way to find out is to apply for a copy of your license and see what entitlements are on it or pay an agency to do a dvla check
hi chester according to busman I looks like it poss wasn’t revoked after all if im reading his msg right , ive just gt my licence back after sending it away for change of address and it does look like my hgv expired in 2008 , its all a bit confusing to me as to what happened
