It was all going so well

After a nice steady week with no drama at all i,m about 3 miles from the yard when…

A stupid bloody woman with a car full of kids drives into the side of me!

i,m sat still queing into a set of roadworks where lane 2 is closing and i,m just at the point where the lane is almost closed by the cones when some women comes blazing down the outside past everybody queing and keeps on going even though the lane is slowly disappearing, she starts to slow but carries on at about 10mph straight into my trailer wheels :open_mouth: she took the nearside door mirror off her car and bent the wing, she then gets out and accuses me of driving into her :open_mouth: she then proceeds to give me the filthiest gob full of abuse you have ever heard, i didnt realise so many swear words could be used in one sentence  i walked to the next car back who was as amazed as me and he gave me a business card saying he would be my witness if i needed to her atrocious driving, i said to her look lets clear the road and pull into the bustop further along, i pulled in and she went blazing past giving me the finger out of the window with her door mirror blowing in the wind and 2 or 3 kids screaming in the back, now i,m sat having a can and thinking how much damage she really could have done

What happened after that? Did you get any details, number plate etc?

Strikes me she`s probably never been in the wrong about anything EVER!!!

Gotta feel for the poor, hapless soul who hooked up wiv it tho` :unamused:

(maybe he`s recently wised up and done one, so you copped for all the pent up venom)

Well she is sat at home now having rung all her friends who witnessed you running into her and she is sat there planning what to spend her
Kom-Pen-Say-Shun on.I would have thought a word with the Police would be a first thing to be done by yourself.as for the foul language, ■■■
doesn’t seem to matter indeed some wimmen seem to be true artists particularly if they are driving.

To satisfy the legal requirement to stop at scene of an accident it’s probably not enough to stop, hurl abuse then drive off giving the finger. I think you’re duty bound to stop long enough provide your name, address and registration number. And the silly Woman had children in the car.

Regardless of blame, the OP needs to get himself along to the cop shop and report this (even if he doesn’t have any details of the car). Otherwise he could end up in the cart himself for fail to stop/report a road accident).

This report must be done as soon as practicable and in any case no later than 24 hours. i.e. Right Now.

I know someone who got 9 points because the person who crashed into them, and drove away later reported to the police that the trucker rather than them had left the scene of an accident… Because she’s got your number, and you have not got hers, you’re vulnerable. Report to the police station, and leave them with a statement. That business card might well be the best thing that’s happened to you this year.

When I dealt whit this in the bus industry we always reported the accident to the police within 24 hours, if she did not give you details then she has left the scene of the accident.
You should have took photos.
To be honest it sounds like the gobby mare may not have even been insured

Give her the back of your hand someone ought to. JOKING!!!

Seriously though chap get it reported to the bab and have that blokes business card handy for the next week or so.

  • 1 Because you’ll be sure to have a comp claim for her and 6 kids traumatic injury’s that will last for years :unamused: .
Get up to plod asap fella

Too many of these people about. Jeremy Kyle has taught her and her ilk that if in doubt, it is always someone else’s fault.

cheers fellas just called into the local police station , he took my details (couldnt give hers as i didnt get a chance to take any) bloke on the desk said it sounds like she probably wasnt insured and not to worry about it, trouble is as an O/D its me who pays the insurance premiums

i had a car drive in to the front corner of my unit on the M6 nearly 3 years ago when HE was changing lanes

can’t say too much about it on here, as it is still ongoing, and more than likely going to court :unamused:

Well, for future reference, you were stopped where she hit you, she was stopped. When you told her that you’ll pull down the road to exchange details, a quick snap of the actual situation on your mobile would have saved a hell of a lot of agro.

Think of the children …

I would have also reported it as road rage - you do not need nor deserve the language you received even if you were in the wrong, which you wern’t.
Road rage may get taken more seriously by the police than a collision.
Whatever happened to reasonable, even tempered drivers…oh they are all on TNUK!!

Every time I read or witness something like this makes me wonder if multiple cameras should be standard equipment on all trucks. A side camera would have had this idiot banged to rights, could have caught the number plate and also the conversation if sound was enabled.
These are now so cheap that I will be buying one for my car very soon!

Jesus, I fear for the human race with bints like that about I really do, imagine what her kids are going to turn out like.

The statement “down from day one” springs to mind.

Must have been the day for it then… Whilst I wasn’t in a truck, had some ■■■■ clip the back end of my car whilst I was parked up… wow damage looked pretty bad on both cars …He pulled up few cars in front, got out and said " can speak much English…Romanian,Romanian… but as soon as insurances and police got mention he soon understood…
Got the details, pretty basic. But I’ve reported it to the law anyway …he wants to pay for the damage cash which seems ok…lets see if he’s true to his word… Got home and cleaning it up with my buffer and a lot of time and patients …think I need chips away to come and make it look perfect

No point using my insurance due to the excess …lets see how this works out.

Only thing I can say is what damage to the truck, report to police anyway, get details and if she doesn’t then she’s failed to stop

She has still Failed To Stop even if she does subsequently report it to Police.

The requirement is that drivers involved stop at the scene AND give their details (and their vehicle details) to anyone having grounds to require them. This requirement is under S170(2) Road Traffic Act 1988.

The requirement to report to police applies if for whatever reason the above was not complied with (e.g. the other vehicle was unattended, did not stop or buggered off before you could exchange particulars). This is covered under S170(3) of the same Act.

S170(4) makes it an offence to fail to comply with EITHER of the above.
