(Loads of mirror, shoulder and 3 points of contact) BTW, could exit by n/s as an option You have half a load of cages. Where abouts on the vehicle would you place them?
(Just forward of rear axle to ensure even load distribution) Select the appropriate method of load restraint and demonstrate (on trolley) how you would use it. Then demonstrate how you would undo it.
(Load lock bar) From inside the vehicle and outside, demonstrate the checks you would make on the vehicle before starting a shift.
(FULL walk round check) IMPORTANT you must show the examiner the tachograph calibration sticker and the speed limiter sticker or it is most likely to be a FAIL You are returning from a European delivery. You have stopped for a comfort break at the French docks. Demonstrate the checks you would make on your vehicle before going through customs.
(THOROUGH checks in all cavities for illegal substances, immigrants. Check load space and under vehicle. Also roof)

If you go to the same document, on pages 178-186 chapter 10, it is called The Driver CPC Module 4 Practical Safety Demonstration Test, it might help pupils slightly, but as you said Rog, I have asked the DSA if they can tell us what questions will be asked, but there are no set questions, but say all the relevant information is in the Driver CPC - the Official DSA Guide for Professional Goods Vehicle Drivers, we have had one of these for a few months, and it does seem to have the information which is relevant, but as soon as one of our trainees takes their test I will post. Hello Rog, Just received our monthly mag from the DSA, and information about the Module 4 Practical Demonstration test, and information as to where to buy the Load Securing Demonstration Trolley, been in touch with the firm, and the item costs just over £1900 with VAT, but it does say that there is no formal requirements for training companies to buy these, but I think quite a few people will make something similar, as that is quite an amount of money. This is the company making them for the DSA, as the DSA sent me an email with their website, and I got in touch with them, they sent me an email with a picture and prices and all the DSA specifications.

If the LGV is anything like the PCV, there are set questions. These consist of a clear grid with cutouts to mark scores on the sheet that is given to the person on test, after the test.
I have asked the DSA under the freedom of information act for the questions. I am still awaiting their reply - about another 10 days to go before they have to respond.
As I understand it, there will be 8 seperate banks of set questions for the examiner to chose from. Each individual bank will contain 5 parts. Out of the 8 banks of questions, 5 will involve the use of the demonstration trolley. It would be a great idea if all instructors listen in whilst module 4 is being conducted and within a short space of time we should be able to publish the full syllabus on this site.

The “official line” is that the instructor can be present for the duration of the test but may be requested to remain in one place (rather than walk round the vehicle with candidate and examiner). This is, supposedly, for health and safety reasons.

So complain immediately - before the cancer sets in. Provided the instructor stays in a position where he clearly isn’t taking part in the test and isn’t creating a health and safety issue, there shouldn’t be a problem. Stick to your guns. Examiners should not make up the rules as they go. STOP IT NOW!
You are correct, the examiner will advise the trainer/instructor where to stand for the duration of the test and provided this instruction is complied with there will be no issue with it
