Henry Stephens:
There is a video of Polish national Thomasz Kroker showing him touching devices then crashing in to multiple vehicles on the A34, before leaving the depot he signed a form to say he would not fiddle and drive.
I don’t know how to put up videos of what he did, how do you put them up on here?
Not sure what your point is?
So he had a camera in his cab and crashed? So the camera didn’t stop him crashing.
Will a camera stop poor driving? No
All it shows is an array of gormless ■■■■ faces when they realise at the last minute what is going to happen.
They actually ''PREVENT ‘’ the far end of f/all…
Dont believe the company justifications, bull sh,.and hype…and pleeeease dont repeat it all, it only shows you up as terminally gullible and simply ■■■■ stupid. , which these companies thrive on.
Crash an artic at speed into a line of stationary traffic and kill people, and you will be in the ■■■■. doesn’t matter if you’ve been seen on camera or not fiddling with the radio/Netflix etc
I’ve said before, instead of dealing with the ‘‘SYMPTOMS’’ of crap and irresponsible incompetent drivers by fitting cameras and the like…that do nothing to counteract the problem
Address the actual ‘‘DISEASE’’ .
How?.. make it harder to obtain a licence, make it be looked upon as a privilege with kudos in essence, by forcing you to actually retain that licence by fighting to keep it, knowing that if you do anything irresponsible, unprofessional,.and downright ■■■■ stupid that you will lose it for 3 months or so., then a re.test…
Which brings us back to increased police presence.
Also start the process at grass roots level, make the process harder, teach guys to actually ‘DRIVE’ trucks, as an apprenticeship scenario, instead of how to pass a test in 2 ■■■■ weeks.,.
Include in this scheme all aspects of proper competent truck driving, including instilling courtesy and empathy into them …ie professionalism.
I still remember things drummed into me that was not in the actual official training school.syllabus, but was discussed during the driving by a bloody good ex driver instructor,.stuff like giving way to other drivers of same type vehicle, backing off, letting them in and out, keeping left all the time, stuff that SHOULD be routine, but sadly is not today any longer.
Not a chance in hell of that happening, instead they will continue to treat the ‘‘proper’’ drivers the same as the d/heads, and force all this type of crap on us, until said ‘proper’ drivers say…‘’ ■■■■ this’’ and leave the job for said d/heads and yes men to carry on with their daily f/ups…
Marky-p:
By the way, anyone that’s got the large Microlise tablets in their cabs i.e Tesco drivers; these tablets have functioning cameras on the front and rear.
One driver found out the hard way when they showed him an image of him smoking in the cab. That’s why a lot of Tesco drivers place the tablet underneath their bags or clipboard out of the way
Generic tablets with cameras, companies have their own software but it won’t have use of the camera, no need. Our handhelds are generic android pdas modified for our use
Can I just say all this ‘I’m gonna quit if they put driver facing cameras in’ bravado is fine for a single guy but if you’re married with a family you have other people and responsibilities to consider. If I was younger and single I’d walk at the mere mention of them but being married with a family and bills to pay takes away that luxury.
Condoms prevent accidents ya melt. How many clips are there from driver facing cameras where the chimp behind the wheel careers into traffic whilst dicking about with his phone? Didn’t stop them did it?
Sploom:
There are things I used to do that I dont do now because the camera is there so that throws out the argument that cameras dont prevent accidents
Yeah, ok, but it’s a well known fact on here that you are susceptible to brainwashing so we just take that as granted that you believe anything you are told and act on it…
Rob’s Top Tip…
I’ve heard you can save time on a journey wearing a ■■■■ plug, it stops you having to stop for the khazi…you should give it a try.
Keep us posted how ya get on.
No, because the idea of doing something well, purely for the that small sense of pride you get from “doing a good job”, is a dying trait.
I’m sure I even saw one post on here over the past year where someone said something along the lines of “Why should I check the handbrake is on? The truck should do that automatically.”
If the basic functions of driving a large machine are too much hassle for some, you have to wonder why they got into this game in the first place.

Indeed. Those comments belong in the same chemical toilet as those comments about giving up driving because of the DCPC. Most drivers I know don’t have another string to their bow, so it’s all hot air.

.
Yeah, and I even saw a post on here where someone said they would rather cut their own ballsack off with a blunt knife than watch a TV program.
There’s things that you can know, without having to check them.

Tbf a lot of older guys did just that.
I know of 3 guys who said. befire they were due to go for their first course…‘‘This is my last, I cba to go through all that crap, I was going to do another couple of years but ■■■■ it’’

Yup, we had 3 old boys (55 years to 62 Years old I seem to remember) hang their keys up. This was in a firm of just 6 of us. Came as a shock to the gaffer but luckily for him the East European explosion was about to start.

So I know 3, you know 3,.and if every other driver knows 3,.that is a hell of a large number out of the driver pool…and all drivers with vast experience.at that.
Is there a connection with the driver shortage if it did exist?
Is there a connection with the vast amount of f/wits we now see behind the wheels of trucks, instead of a lot of professionalism?
It ain’t rocket science is it?
Anyhow back to cameras and how they are there to help us…over to you Sploomy.
Talking of rocket science, i didn’t like the three hour long film Oppenheimer, music playing very loudly all the way through it even when they were speaking but all 8 showings were sold out today and so was Barbie!!

It stops us using the phone.I cant touch my phone now because I know the camera is there. So,I hate to say this but they might reduce accidents at the expense of invasion of privacy
