In cab cameras have arrived at our place

blue estate:

Welwyn:
Our place got one of our 2 new lorries last week pre-fitted with an in cab camera. The other class 1 driver (there’s only 2 of us) told me about the camera as I looked around it.

Yesterday I told the person that makes our firms decisions, “I am not happy working with an in cab camera and I am not willing to work with it when I get my new truck next week”. I also said that “I didn’t want to leave the firm as I am happy working there and had up until that point no intention to leave, but after 15 years I would now terminate my employment rather than be subjected to an in cab camera”.

A few minutes later we had agreed that both of the cameras will be removed before I get my new truck at the end of the week.

I see no valid reason for having an in cab camera and there is nothing in the world that would convince me that they are necessary.

If there’s only 2 of you why the heck did they get them fitted if both of you don’t cause damage etc :unamused:

They got them from a “bigger” local firm who have decided to have all their vehicles done. Incidentally the firm they came from has a massive turnover of drivers who pass their test, gain some experience and jump ship as soon as possible. Apparently they also have trouble retaining fitters.

The response from them was “You need to tell your drivers to stop being ■■■■■■■■■ but we will take them out for you as it isn’t the law to have them in”.

The response tells me why they have driver retention problems and our place has 2 drivers that have been there for 15 and 18 years.

I’m ■■■■■■■ bored and parked in Brum
Also got black dog problems tonight
P/S if you don’t know what I mean about black dog google it

Black Dog was a very underrated film with the late Patrick Swayze and Meatloaf as the unscrupulous transport boss.

Not that one ,
The one that plagued Winston Churchill

Sorry, just seen this. I would never ignore that. You ever feel the need to chat PM me.

Blue Estate, you had better put a post up as soon possible to let us know you are ok.

I’m ok , sitting in TPN Minworth waiting to load

That is good news, I nearly dispatched the SAS out to look for you but I can now stand them down and sent them back to Hereford.

Ain’t they on here and driving truck parked at RDC’s

They tend to hover around by the vending machines at RDC’s, you won’t know they are SF without the secret password and hand shake.
There’s plenty at the RDC’s that missed the Herald by two minutes.

So the big question given it’s over a week since ETS posted the thread…

Have you handed in your notice and quit?

Of course not…

There are lots of drivers who say they wouldnt work for a company that uses incab cameras but when it comes to the crunch,I bet they wouldnt leave,if the company fits them. The last company I worked for, drivers were too frightened to leave, even when the driver shortage was in full swing and you could take your pick of higher paid, easier jobs. They were frightened to leave, even then

Nor should you just leave, what you should have done is let the company shoot itself in the foot by not going through the correct procedures as outlined on the relevant .gov pages, and following dismissal for refusing to drive the vehicle with said driver facing camera you then let the industrial tribunal decide.

S’funny you know, but many proper unionised workplaces have successfully defeated these things, that sadly rare word NO needs to come back into regular use again.

Maybe the companies forcing these things in and the sort of people just accepting them deserve each other?

I have also come to that conclusion and not just with cameras, many other things in the grand scheme of things.
I tried doing my bit, seat on our parish council, became the deputy chair, anti govt. websites and just a general stance of non-compliance in whatever I did.

I soon realised that the majority were sadly beyond help and I have a life to live…So I sold all I had in the UK and relocated to the mountains of central Portugal to leave society and grow all my own food…I have to say that it is the best decision I ever made and I now eat my own grown food(47 varieties) and wild meat with no chemicals and 21 months in, I know that I am self sufficient in all foodstuffs, I have a forest for wood, for heating and cooking and can be totally self sufficient with two sources of spring water…My prepping is not storage, it is free range!

Cameras…They should only be used for making our lives better, not worse.

Bring on the New World Order…I am ready.
