If you had to choose between

Chester services or lymm truckstop for a night out, which would you choose ?

Going to be stopping at one for most of the day and night tomorrow but unsure which would be best.

Baring in mind I’m in a fleet spec p cab so would like to get out for a bit. Got a tip in Bolton early doors Monday.

Cheers

Don’t know about Chester but Lymm really for Greggs if you have no brewing stuff ,iam sure you’ll survive .

Lymn. Easy choice. Greggs, less caravans, less flip flops ■■■■■■■ all over the car park.

I frequent both establishments on a regular basis as our depot sits between the two. Chester has a really overpriced Spar shop and newly refurbished toilets. Lymm is just a toilet full stop.

But…it does indeed have a Greggs. Personally I would get a proper job and sleep at home every night.

It would be bad enough staying on either of those overpriced crap holes on a night out, but for most of the day also :open_mouth:
not a chance.
Not sure which direction you are coming from mate, but I would be (and frequently do) using a bit of imagination, and looking for somewhere near a town, an ind est or a retail park somewhere.

A look around town, pub maybe, meal, and/or even cinema …or whatever.
A day on an MSA would fill me with dread (not to mention terminal boredom)

You making that sound almost tempting. But I’m with the keen rodent on this one.

I’ll be heading from Bromborough. I’m not exactly excited to spend the day out but needs must. I’m going to be short on hours for the week by the time I’m tipped so it’s a toss up of the two. Got another driver heading over at some point tomorrow for a tank swap, time I’ve done that my week is most likely finished.

I can see your point bud, but I have always seen nights out as just part and parcel of the job of being a trucker, and accepted that situation.
Rightly or wrongly (and I apologise in advance) I have always looked on being a day man as just playing at it.
That is NOT meant in any way to be offensive btw, it’s just the way I have always looked at it, and is in no way a knock at daymen, just my opinion as a brainwashed long term tramper.
Now whether I would do it all again given the chance is another story. :bulb:

That’s it, you and me in the playground for a game of hopscotch to see who ends up with a skimmed knee!

No, I meant the highlighted bit… sounds like you’re suggesting a date… :grimacing:

I recently gave up tramping, to go 4on-4off. More time to do my things. Mind you, I already had my first night out the other day… :unamused:

hang about the bogs in lymm and you wont be long in getting one then… :open_mouth:

Formula truck stop is about 10-15 mins away from Chester services I always stop there! Big tv room decent food big clean showers! Much better place to be spending anymore time parked up than any one wants too! I have also parked at the rudi car park in Chester it’s also a coach park opposite the race course! Can have a wonder around then?

You won’t struggle for a date on here Good Friend.

It was the whip that did it for me

I can vouch for Formula truckstop on Bridges Road, as Happy said .
Its on Snap, the Cheshire Oaks shopping mall is a mile and a half walk away with a multi screen cinema and numerous eateries,

Formula has a games room, leather reclining sofas, satellite tv, vending machines for Italian or Indian meals to heat up in the kitchen .
Chester has been revamped but its a major coach transfer depot by the truckstop .
Lymm is very busy, it is possible to walk to the village of Lymm but a hiviz is needed and a torch due to some parts of the road have no pavements on blind corners .
Turkish restaurant there and numerous pubs for totty spotting .

PJ,s off the A50 if possible when going up that way. Did Skelmersdale recently, so expensive and the food was basic with no effort gone into it.

My current favourite is PJM at Coventry, no snap so no foreigners, and the food is superb.

Was forced into Gloucester services last week. Not bad as you get a £5 voucher but even so had to pay another £4 to get a lasagne dinner (with tap water). That said it was better than the alternative namely Gilders at Teddington. I will never stay there again - the food is so expensive, and the portions are tiny. Had planned on making PJM or the Shell garage at Bromsgrove but the road closure I hit in Wales destroyed any hope I had of getting that far. :imp:

RIP the Vale, I liked that place.
