Ice Road Truckers

Is it just me or is this programme now past its best?
I think one series would have been enough and they are struggling now for new material. The tv company bigs everything up, I mean, since when has 13000 ltrs of diesel been a highly exposive load? The commentator said that if the truck crashed and there was a spark it would explode!! ■■■■■■■■. Petrol or gas perhaps, but diesel, no.

Still better than Dancing on Ice though.

I thought that about the diesel as well :open_mouth: The program is now very dull. I agree, one series was enough!!

totally agree, listening to that commentator makes me laugh when he is forever bigging it up,and we know the real truth.i liked series 1,and was looking forward to series 2,but was left very dissapointed.dont think i will bother with series 3,there is only so many times you can watch hugh and friends lugging tankers full of poop up and down the snow.

The only good bit in series 2 is when Rick Yemm nearly gets a 4 by 2 over his napper by a ■■■■■■ off boss. Apart from that I wasn’t impressed, very repetitive.

tell old alex clinging on for dear life its repetitive . licence /job gone in a oner if he lives how will he feed his family  like evrey group of drivers you will encounter WEVE all got storys . to me these days as it has been for a while driving choses you you might have a licence but for evrey person that has a lgv il show you 2 that tried it and didnt want the life. to the initiated the commentators comments are derisive. but to joe public it shows a bit of the driving world . the goodbyes to family youre life in a bag AND WHAT WE WOULD DO TO MAKE A BETTER LIFE FOR OURSELVES (within the law  ) i would like to try it for myself and see if my opion is right there WIMPS  i base my judment on RICK and the forklift driver  these guys werent trusted with the transportation of the derrick of a drilling rig one unit pulling an one supporting the load in reverse for 70 miles . thats real driving .

The production of the series for viewing entertainment was repetitive. I for one appreciate what the drivers out there have to endure to make a living. I was under the impression this thread was about the quality of the storyline in this programme, not the integrity and bravery of the drivers out there.

well the job is based on ice and yup its REPETITIVE

True, but I just thought the first series was more interesting. Like everything else in life it’s all about opinions.

and life is repetitive

Ice Road Truckers is a load of ■■■■■■■■ in my opinion - it always has been.

Boring and repetitive it is, but at least it’s about drivers. The programme recently about Stobarts was even worse and that was all about the “wealthy managing directors”.

:unamused: :unamused: :unamused:

the first season was the best! i agree with you they struggled for ideas for the second one

I’ve enjoyed both series. You’ve got a devoted family man, a big headed fat bloke, a bloke that thinks he’s tough but cries “It’s not fair” like a spoilt child. And you’ve got a narator who would tell you a sperm could destroy New York, If he thought you would believe it.
It’s all just a bit of fun to me.
However i applied to a few companies. The best reply i got was “You can work on the ice for us after you have work in Canada for two years first”. I thought, That sounded fair enough.
But then i concocted a cunning plan. I wrote to the production company explaining, If they put a British bloke, ermmm like me on the ice, It would be good for ratings.
I’ve heard [zb] all.

I agree about the explosive diesel at -40*c you could probably use it to put out a fire  (not recommend)

Is it just me or does anyone else wonder about the totally crap trucks and trailers they use. You would have thought they would at least have had wider trailers on the job not to mention a few more axles.

Those of you who have worked in cold places - What would you want at 40 below?

Santa:

Maybe it’s because that if they go through the ice then the loss is not so great - I’m referring to the truck, not the driver :exclamation:

A heater that works thats for sure.

ive never liked any of them, much prefer deadliest catch.

I was gutted after watching the whole of the second series,
it told you how many loads they did but not how
much money they made :imp:

Yeah ice road truckers is totally crap now, nearly as bad as orange county choppers  Deadliest catch is much better :sunglasses:

I enjoyed Series 1 but from the little I’ve seen of Series 2 it is more of the same.

However, surely its better to watch Ice Road Truckers than an endless stream of ‘How Clean is Your Grand Escape to the Country Designs Location’? Now that is repetetive and boring and I’d rather watch programmes about trucks and drivers than that old guff! :unamused:

You just have to learn to ignore the ‘WE ALL GONNA DIE!’ commentary and over-exaggerating by some of the ‘stars’ of the show.
