This is the type of zb that any HGV driver who finds themselves out of work in the home counties especially Surrey faces.Loads of ads for crap totally unrelated jobs which no one wants.
The ad is no mistake it’s clearly and deliberately worded to catch out the type of driver who says I’m a truck driver.I’m not a bleedin van shunter and washer.
Instant excuse to then sanction and terminate the Job seekers claim.
I’d bet that it’s not even the local South East ambulance service it’ll probably be London with a London commute, to add insult to the injury of the unrelated job and wage.
Also bearing in mind that anyone mug or desperate enough to take it also loses their up to date recent truck driving record.
If it were a driving job then it would be low pay but it’s a cleaning job where you need to be able to move the vehicle if you need to. Even if it was a depot where the vehicle was parked on the road or a yard on the opposite side of the road and you just had to drive it into the yard you’d need the appropriate licence.

It’s a moot point.The ad is clearly targetted at desperate Jobseekers claimants.Along the lines of take our downgraded, career wrecking, van cleaner and shunter job.Regardless of and in the knowledge of the fact you’re a class 1 truck driver.Or we’ll stitch up the JA benefits claim.Bearing in mind that Surrey ain’t the Midlands in terms of HGV work and job opportunities.Its a typical predatory job ad common to the specific area.

So you’re saying that train drivers shouldn’t be paid more than ambulance cleaners and shunters ?.
What needs to change is a fit for purpose income and job protection insurance regime.Which doesn’t waste truck driver skills on laughably unsuited unrelated employment.

Only if the job involves driving them on the public highway and they really are over weight.Even if it does any C1 driver let alone ‘class 1’ driver would need to be desperate and/or a bit ‘special’ to take it

When cleaning becomes a job with an average working week of 60hrs, where it becomes on of the 10 most deadliest jobs in the UK, when you have to have mandatory qualifications, certifications and regular mandatory training and be subject to the same levels of enforcement by the law then yes. Whilst it remains one that requires none of that, literally requiring someone applying for a job to have nothing more than a pulse and the right to work in the UK then no. By demanding everyone gets the same all you do is devalue the skills of those who have made the effort and spent the time and money to do training to gain skills. Without lorry driving paying what it does you’d find even fewer people willing to do it than there is now.
Ramage Transport of Newcastle are now taking on drivers at £10.70 an hour for Class 1. They may as well pay National Minimum Wage. Lowest I have seen, but new passes go there for 2 years experiene, then leave and go to the likes of Fergusons down the road who pay much more than that.
Ramage have a reputation for taking anyone: The most unprofessional driver I have ever met has worked for them off-and-on for a number of years; seems they don’t “blacklist” you if you leave and then want to come back, that one “driver” may as well be on a bungee rope with them holding one end. And they have a reputation for being fairly forgiving when a newbie driver has a prang.

Office staff etc on minimum wages there rate is slowly creeping up towards most drivers hourly pay.
Thing gets me with all this minimum. Wage obv low paid office staff etc every year get a pay rise even if it’s minimal.
Yet drivers probably won’t and soon there houly pay will be on a par with drivers

I am getting offered day rates,anyone else? Avoid that at all costs!
I bet in April it will all be day rates on hgv’s due to this new minimum wage guff to avoid giving drivers a fair wage! .

Never understand why, when a driver asks for ‘nightwork’ they expect to be paid a premium rate. If my boss asked me to do ‘nightwork’ then yes I would expect extra but not if I requested it-especially when in the main you prefer ‘nightwork’ 'cos there’s not as much traffic, it’s usually drop and swap, I can get my head down whilst they tip me etc etc.
Tin hat on, incoming hate mail etc etc.
