How fast do you go on single carriageways?

I do 40 just to ■■■■ the traffic behind off

40mph.

I can never be sure if a mobile speed camera is just around the next corner. I know a driver who received a ticket for 43mph (he attended a speed awareness course at his cost). I don’t trust the 10% + 2mph, or whatever it is, and nor do I trust every policeman equally, especially when it all becomes a bit ambiguous. 40mph is absolute and cannot be disputed.

It’s way less stressful just plodding along.

I will not take responsibility for the state of mind of the drivers behind me. It’s up to them to overcome feelings of impatience and use rationality to accept I am costing them about 2 minutes from their lifetime. If it wasn’t me costing them this time, it would be a set of traffic lights, a flurry of heavy traffic elsewhere, or a call of nature.

It always amazes me how some lorry drivers will do anything to squeeze by and drive flat out all day, and then they will be the same ones who think it’s ok to waste 10 minutes of my time moaning about mundane rubbish as I’m trying to clock out and get to my car.

65-70mph get it done and get home

40 if you feel the need to go faster crack on driver

Good to know I’m not alone in thinking like this.

I will do Durham to Cairnryan with cruise set at 43 mph. 50mph duel carriageway.
I know I’ll get there with driving time at about 4hour 10min. Depending on conditions.
If speeders want to overtake I let them past when it’s possible and safe.
I’m paid by the hour so I’m not doing myself out of pocket.
But I do see the same driver, with a heavy foot get the shift more regular than others. :unamused:

I’ll be honest and say I crack on as much as possible, not proud of it, but I think there’s alot who do! It’s more to do with when and where. Just been caught on a camera but it’s the first for 10 years in a truck and I did have a clean licence.

I got nailed in my car in 2005 after having a clean license for 22 years!
I then got caught on a SC doing 50 in the truck back in 2008!
Its 40 for me nowadays, im payed by the hour to so makes no sense for me to be buggering about speeding.
You also get a disciplinary at my employers if you get a FPN for speeding in a company vehicle so in effect, you get crapped on twice for the same offence! :imp:

55 for me yesterday afternoon. We had a transport meeting at a local pub to our mill, and management was paying the bar bill. :sunglasses:
