A black cab driver gave me that hand signal tonight!

Iād have said merc man was in the wrongā¦providing nothing was beyond that hi-top utilities van I think if Iād been in the Merc I would have eased off waited back there and just let RR boy through.WTF, we drive on the left in the UK, and in fairness I live here, know what is parked on the road and the obstructions between the 3 road junctions.
Fair enough. As you say I have absolutely no idea of your road layout.
We have a lot of parking-obstructed roads through villages down here in the west country and the council refuse to put double yellows there because, in their words, it is a form of traffic calming preventing drivers speeding through.
I can tell you that the ācodeā down in our part of the world is that as you approach you courtesly flash your lights ease off the gas and stop, letting the overtaking car who has already begun his manoever (treating the stopped cars as one block) throughā¦all too often its the āup-countryā holiday-makers down here who are not only afraid of the edge of the road but also drive on without reading the situation.
At the end of the day, what is it?..just someone has to swallow a bit of prideā¦hey ho, life goes on.
.
look at the size of the garden lol
The advice I was given as a bus driver by the company was not to reverse without an authorised banksman.
As such, if I pulled into a road where I had ROW over other vehicles, or where I had the priority over them and they refused to reverse then I was to stop, handbrake on, into neutral and wait. If they didnāt move then I was to get the newspaper out and resting it on teh steering wheel start to readā¦
Itās surprising how soon they then reverse!!!
But likewise Iāve also got the back end of a bus stuck on a traffic island whilst trying to manvoever aorund an illegally parked car.
I got into more trouble trying to get through sitations rather than getting back to the office on the radio for assitance because I always had a negative moaning attitude from them in the office. Needless to say, they all lied through their [zb] teeth when I went through disciplinary
Never mind. Life goes on.
As for the two buses having a standoff, I would hope they are from different companies. If they are from the same company they should be ashamed of themselves. Although saying that I know drivers that were complete and utter [zb] ā ā ā ā ā ā ā ā and should be sacked for stupidity and rudeness. Such things as edging over zebra crossings with bumper inches away from a slow moving disabled pedestrian, or families, just because theyāre late. The thing is, the car drivers are the same. Some drivers just have no moral upstanding these days. Useless [zb]s!

Its great until the grass needs cuttingā¦I hate cuting that (zb)ing grass!!
Think Range Rover:
Bullitt, canāt make out the reg.no. on your RR but it does look suspiciously like the one in Malcās pic.

Bloody H&S would have a field day with that nowadays. No door, reaper blade on drivers side. rigger boots and no helmet or hiviz
newmercman:
The RR driver wouldāve changed the rules of that game as soon as he got out of his car, I wouldāve jumped straight out of mine and got right in his face and told him that he would have to kick [zb] out of me before my car went in reverse, Iāve found that works most of the time Iām not saying Iām a hard nut, I canāt fight me way out of a soggy paper bag with a stanley knife in each hand, but heās not to know that
Is there two of me?

Is it my imagination or is that actually doing no cutting duties whatsoever and merely flattening the grass?
Looks similar to a cut down Massey Ferguson Finger Mower
Does look a bit bunged up. Probably the needs the knives sharpening.
With a well maintained sharp cutter bar mower, you can crack on, but really theyāre designed for cutting long grass for hay.
A more viable option for Bullit to tow behind his RR:

Take a range rover off road, are you mad?
I can see an area behind the merc on his N/S that he could get adjacent to and let the RR pass easily (bit of on the kerb ) without any fuss. You have to make it easy if possible. Unlike some of the retards who use Repton. Had a similat incident with myself already half way down a line of parked cars and some idiot , rather than wait til I had cleared , decided to drive up to me and attempt to get me to reverse back (line of cars on my N/S my right of way if already coming down it) No where to pull in at all ā¦Funnily enough I was in a large Landrover defender at the time and edged up to his front bumper waving him back ā¦ He gave up in the end and backed up ā¦Decided to have a go at me about it. Couldnāt explain to the numpty that itās my right of way if I,m already coming down with no where to pull in , you just canāt appear from around the corner and drive up to me and expect me to go back Told him fark off in the end and left.
However , agreed Melbourne is a nicy village and why does it have double deckers using those tiny streets anyway ? Do they use swarkestone bridge too ? I donāt get over that way much.
Another point to note is that Itās my learned opinion that all South Derbyshire bus drivers share the same gene pool.

I agree about the bus drivers Gene pool paul, but yes double deckers and artics are through the village all the time, most of them are not delivering here but following a sat nav. We have 5 double deckers twice per day in term time.

I sound like a grumpy old man
People never seem to want to back down, iām very suprised at some of the comments on hear from people who i assume are professional drivers saying how ātheyād sit there all dayā or ātheyād kick there head inā, does it really matter? We as advanced drivers accept and allow for the mistakes of others, however frustrating it may.
