Good evening,
What are the regs for high blood pressure (undiagnosed) please? When is “high” actually considered high? And when should you visit a GP?
Many thanks!

If you’re concerned about your blood pressure being high then in answer to your question “when should you visit your GP” the answer is yesterday.
I am not a doctor but, assuming you’re under eighty, anything over 120/80 is probably worth getting checked out. If its more than 140/90 I’d be thinking about an urgent appointment

Thanks, im not overly concerned…i just wondered what other peoples views were on what sort of level they would think about having it checked out.
Do you sweat? get it checked.

Hate to admit it but its been awful! Even sitting infront of the open freezer hasnt helped, windows open and fan on full speed does not stop it. Thought it might be a womanly hormonal thing My levels seemed better today however, the sweating is off the ■■■■ chart!
Definitely Get to your GP if worried about blood pressure and if they faffing around a lot of pharmacy will check your blood pressure properly for you

I will rephrase my question to a lady, do you perspire much?
but yes, most pharmacies will check your BP, even if they try to sell you a monitor.

I’m going to be blunt and straight to the point!
You claim to be in your 30s, not overweight, neither drink or smoke and eat healthily yet when you check your blood pressure you state “it keeps bleeping off in the amber and red zones” yet you state you think it’ll be fine.
You’re either a troll on a wind up or you’ve got a medical issue that if not addressed without delay you’ll find yourself either in hospital (at best) or more probably a mortuary.
Get yourself to the doctors!

Horses sweat, men perspire, ladies glow.

Not a troll, not a wind up…just asking a simple and relevant question. If you cant answer appropriately or word it considerately then dont bother.
Typical female!
Asks advice, given advice, doesn’t get advice that she wants to hear so throws a strop.
Do as you like girl, you will anyway!
Hopefully when you have the inevitable stroke or heart attack you aren’t behind the wheel of a truck like the guy in Glasgow was.
That’s my last post on this thread as I can’t be arsed with people like you!

Accusing someone of being a troll who is asking a simple question is not “giving advice”. If you bother to read above responses then you might get an inkling as to what a reasonable reply is. As for your attitude, you wont get very far with that. Your user name sums you up perfectly by the sounds of it
Even things like the pill can give blood pressure issues, even when they have had you on the same thing for a while known a good few friends that have had odd health issues down to the pill even after there are so many causes and even doctors can’t always pin point what the cause is get booked in with your GP, fight with the bloody receptionists that thing they know best half the time and make them actually do something for you.

Thanks for your reply SquireT, Iv never taken any of the hormonal pills (personal preference before anyone starts getting on there high horse) so im certain whatever is causing the levels is not related to that The level readings arent dangerously high but nevertheless they are being flagged so I will get it checked out just incase. Them know it all receptionists do make booking an appointment difficult at times
Guy’s a Lady is present, Gentlemen should be present also!
Hi Lou,
I have what is considered to be HBP - it’s borderline really. I’m a 48 yr old male, veggie, non-smoker, drink less than 1 pint in a week (I can’t afford to be an alcoholic lol). I exercise daily, but have a very at times stressful job.
It’s stress that puts it up, not just food and lack of exercise so speak to your GP. You can still take pills for HBP and pass the medical, just declare it! I passed a Class 1 medical for being an Airline Pilot, so nothing that cannot be managed.
I showed my wife this post, she helps recuperate stroke patients and gets them back on their feet, others do speech therapy after a stroke, they are looking after a stroke patient who is 33, never smoked, never drank, is of an average weight and BMI.
That’s why uncontrolled BP is called The Silent Killer
