Rockgunner:
funny old thing spoke to one of their drivers and he showed me his wage slip £1250 per fortnight take home lots of time off and payed everytime spent in truck even parked up at weekends away
And then you woke up.
Plenty on here about CFS from former employees if you use the search function.
Well Harry I don’t know wat you do but I work for Cfs and wat that lad said is true so just keep your thoughts to yourself
MrSumo:
Have you tried Cranliegh Freight Services ?
There ALWAYS looking
Is there a reason for that, I was toying with the idea of trying them, assuming they take out-based drivers.
I work for Cfs what you want to know for starters the pay on a standard fortnight is £1205 take home and I like the job not everyone’s cup of tea but that life

Have you worked there for a fortnight yet?
Can you read been there for over a year yes I’ve done 2 weeks away and yes I’ve been paid 1205 take home and that isn’t working 6 days a week
£1200 odd for two weeks is about right , I am paid weekly and take between £600 and £650 , problem is people who aint earning it on here wont believe it possible and the others earning more will think it crap , but £600 odd is about right . So just ignore a certain little man .
10-4 good buddy:
i worked for cranleighs and can tell you i never took home 1205 for 2 weeks work more like 1000 if i was lucky i would have stayed for 1205
That’s more in line with what has been posted on previous threads. I’ve never worked for them though so it’s all hearsay. They do have a high turnover of drivers which is never a good sign. If anyone in the South-east is after a continental job (although it’s only Channel-hopping) then I know Taft are after a driver, my mate packed in last Friday.

Ok lads let try and put it this way Monday to Friday basic £408 even if you are on 24 45 66 etc break away from the yard £50 bonus if you don’t f!!! Up £20 nite out euro £18 nite out uk sat and sun working £75 per day even if you are on a break plus night outs bankhols £75 extra if worked or parked up in the truck on a break that’s it no overtime payments just like a salary I do 4 weeks on 4 to 5 days off and I try and work my time at home midd week so I always work the weekend there busy times some lads only do 1 weekend away so a pay of £900 is about right like most jobs the more you do the more money you get I live some 200 miles from the yard so I don’t use my car much thus saving lots on petrol yes we do have a turnover of drivers but as I’ve said it’s not everyone’s job but it works well for me and my family a lot of drivers have been with them for many years and if you go to the car park you can see the posh motors the drivers have so it can’t be all bad

Having done 20 years on there 1000 sounds about right to me,unless they have had a big pay rise in last couple of years.
neilf:
The truth of it is that in general euro work hasn’t paid as well as UK work for years if you average it out.
Also in today’s job market it is a rare opportunity and this is another reason why the rates will never be fantastic.
Now I’ve never worked or CFS but I’ve met a few of their drivers down the road and also have worked with a few ex/future drivers. The truth of it is that they get plenty of new starts blinded by the left ■■■■■■ and the word european on the side of the trailer. The guts of their euro work is airfreight most of which is shortish overnight hauls. Anybody who has visions of running on near empty roads with with the ray-bans on while planning which routier/beach to spend the evening will very quickly come down to earth with a big bump. The reality of it is sitting on a bay in some miserable airfreight terminal all day with planes screaming overhead before being handed your paperwork early evening and told to crack on. IMHO you’ve all the stresses and strains of working at home with the added bonus of unpredictable channel crossings.
This is the main reason why the drivers don’t hang around although I have been told that it’s not the job it was, but ain’t that the case all over.
Cheers
Neilf
Hi Neil I agree with most of your post but I like to know where the sitting on miserable loading bay comes into it with planes screaming over head yes we spend a lot of time sitting around airports etc but we do get paid for it at lux it can be and always is a nightmare waiting to unload so are Rdcs lol but we often have a shunter on hand to tip if we are getting close to our hrs but the fact is if. You have time to kill before you are due to load 15min walk out the gates is a nice bistro with fine food and wine and a pleasant welcome if not then there is the tennis club where we are always welcome a nice bar and good food and a warm welcome if that don’t take your fancy a few euros on the bus and your in the city centre shopping if not you can walk thru the woods for peace with nature
Same story at Amsterdam if you have time get on a bus goto the city and enjoy Ostend is the best place if your lucky enough 5min walk from the beach and if there are 2 of you hire out a go kart and cruise up and down the prom or just visit the town centre for shops and bars but hey you still getting paid to do it sorry that’s the good thing about the job like all jobs there are bad point s the fact we always do odd hours much done at night then days then nights it can be hard to adjust but if can its not rocket science job to do you can only do wat that black box fitted tells you can do and no more but if you want to sit in the cab watching your DVD player or surfing the net then you can its your choice as is its your choice to do the job but for people who want to get into euro driving its easy as its mostly regular runs so not to much map work as I’ve said the job can be very hard and that by the time it comes to park up you are totally F!!!ed but that’s the worst case end of the day it’s a job same as any other like it or leave it the choice is yours me I like it ! This job works for me and I get on fine I’m not a special person or the worlds best driver just a normal bloke earning a wage for his family that’s all
Nice post ajl, totally agree with you. too many drivers just sit there and fester, instead of stretching there legs and finding out what’s really out there.
As has been said before on many other subjects about "what do you do when parked up " it is so easy to take a bit of time out and see the world, even if it’s just popping out of the gates to have a Grand Cafe in the local bar.
By the way did you get my PM to you ?
Not at the moment still trying to get my HGV back from the DVLA. But if I do get it back CFS will be the first place I will call looking for a job. Now a days I am a white van man for a brewery ■■■■■■■ casks of beer in to pubs, that is slowly getting me fitter so I will have another go at the treadmill test this year to see if I can get it back.
Yes Pierrot got you pm did you get mine argh chewy the job can’t be that bad if you want to come back hope you will get your lgv back it be better than a white van man but let not forget the thread in the first place how do get euro experience with a company well as I’ve said the job is straight forward and will help new lads into this way of life
