I missed it as well (by 2 days)

But so sad to pass it many times lying on its side, thinking of the lives lost.

Is there a reason for that, I was toying with the idea of trying them, assuming they take out-based drivers.

cranleigh freght pay really pore wages and they want you to work lots of late night and weekend hours for same money i was offered a job there before but it wasnt enough dough

And then you woke up.

Plenty on here about CFS from former employees if you use the search function.

If you’re looking for euro experience anything will do, Money is not everything

The truth of it is that in general euro work hasn’t paid as well as UK work for years if you average it out.

Also in today’s job market it is a rare opportunity and this is another reason why the rates will never be fantastic.

Now I’ve never worked or CFS but I’ve met a few of their drivers down the road and also have worked with a few ex/future drivers. The truth of it is that they get plenty of new starts blinded by the left ■■■■■■ and the word european on the side of the trailer. The guts of their euro work is airfreight most of which is shortish overnight hauls. Anybody who has visions of running on near empty roads with with the ray-bans on while planning which routier/beach to spend the evening will very quickly come down to earth with a big bump. The reality of it is sitting on a bay in some miserable airfreight terminal all day with planes screaming overhead before being handed your paperwork early evening and told to crack on. IMHO you’ve all the stresses and strains of working at home with the added bonus of unpredictable channel crossings.
This is the main reason why the drivers don’t hang around although I have been told that it’s not the job it was, but ain’t that the case all over.

Cheers
Neilf

Another option that drivers do not grasp is that some firms do not pay you to have the 24 or 45 hours off for weekly rest, the novelty soon wears off when you run out of hours on a saturday morning or friday night in a French motorway service area surrounded by Eastern Euro drivers running their engines all day and night to charge up their batteries.

or come knocking at your door on a monday morning because they didnt and want to know if you have jump leads.

I could never sit all weekend in the cab, for me i would exit the area by the staff gate and bike it all day.

You’re right about money, but getting experience on a poor paying job helps you get a better paying job.
Though saying that, poor pay is because of big businesses wanting the lowest costs for their goods.

Yeh, I know what you’re saying, but if firms are aware that less experienced drivers are willing to take low pay, the more experienced of those among us won,t get a look in, and the wages will never get any better.

I work for Cfs for over a year the pay is ok for me at about £1205 a fortnight the job is fairly easygoing but we do work some odd hours and that can be hard for people to adjust to but we get paid for our weekly breaks away From the yard and we do in house cpc and ADR training driving left hookers can be hard at first but you get used to it well if an eastern block driver can do it well there’s your answer most of the work is airfreight and doing the same runs can get boring but that’s the same as doing the rdc I suppose but this job works for me that’s all I can say
