If you do B+E that will cover you for a vehicle up to 3.5 tonnes towing a trailer up to 3.5 tonnes which is a total plated MAM weight of 7 tonnes
Having LGV C will make no difference to that
The weight restrictions on the vehicle and trailer will then be what will restrict you from doing whatever
Hi I had my cat c test on Monday 30th March 15, I failed and I’m gutted, I had 3 minors but kept doing the same thing so added to a serious. It was for observation, not looking over my right shoulder when pulling away, also for speeding in a 20mph zone coming up to a30 mph zone. My own fault I know. My instructor told me I was ready for test before test so tho I was bit nervous I was ok. I thought I drove quite well. Thing is I have a pass protection but haven’t booked it yet cos it’s really knocked my confidence, I’m dreading doing it again, if I fail next time I’ve not got any more money for extra tuition or test. Any tips.?

If you have kids you drive about… lifts… tell 'em they get 50p or £1 every time they call you for moving off without looking round or speed up before a limit sign… kids are NAZIS about it, they’ll soon have you well schooled.
i visited them as per the advice here and they seem to have their own vehicles, but i am not sure where they do the reversing bit. Prety cheap though with a combined C and C+E package of around £2K

I would google Flair lgv training especially as the owner is a member on here …
i have checked Flair and they lool like a decent trainers.
However i have a question i am not able to answer myself and need some help from those with experience.
Basically RSM is offering 20hours cat C + 20 hours cat C+E training, while Flair’s course is 4 days cat C (16 hours) and another 2 days for cat C+E (8 hours) which is 24 hours all together. All of these are 1-2-1 courses.
i have no doubt that it is possible to get to a PASS standard with 24 hours (C+E) as both companies enjoy a high pass rate. But the real life is different. So would not it make more sense to go for 40 hours and hope that i get more expereince on top of the “PASS standard”?

Better to pass in a short time then pay more post test for some extra training when the pressure is off
If your around the wolverhampton area, I strongly recommend GTG training centre. (They’re owned by Arnold Clarke)
If you know wolverhampton they’re located in wednesfield where makro use to be. The facilities are excellent and the training trucks are modern. (14 plate class 2, 61 plate class 1…I think lol). The trainer Colin was a top bloke as well, extremely knowledgeable and helpful.
Large on site off road car park for you to practice reversing etc, and also another great thing about this place is that it’s used as a test base, no need to travel, the examiner comes to you. I found this really helpful because you’ll know the environment, and have a rough idea which roads the examiner will take you round on your test.
I’m just returning to driving after being away for 4 or 5 years. Hold a class 2 and have got all my cards. I’m doing the odd shift as I still work full time elsewhere. I’m looking to sit my class 1 soon and looking for a good provider. I spoke to hgv training and they quoted me just short of £1500 all in, finance is available which is good for me. Not many offer these types of packages but does anyone know of them and if they’re any good? I’m guessing they’re brokers as can do this anywhere in the country pretty much and give finance. It’s a bit more than most other quotes but like I said, the finance is encouraging.

Phoned GTG earlier today asking bout prices and info for my class 1. Works out not too bad. I did ask if they did any sort of finance or anything of the sort, they said they sometimes used HGV training, they done the finance for GTG if required. I spoke to them last week…They wanted £1500, GTG works out at about £1100…for the same training from the same company.
I have just ran the gauntlet of finding a legitimate training company. It wasn’t easy. One company almost had me but I asked them to give me a week to decide and their incessant calls over that week raised a big red flag. I took your advice on the googling and it took quite some digging but I discovered several company name changes and several different company names all trading from their registered address. Their main website is hgvtrainingcentre.co.uk
I did find a proper company that I’m going to do the training with. Just paid for the medical and no other money up front. If you’re in the North West use these guys. mantralearning.co.uk/home.aspx
I’m not sure how their prices compare to others but they are definitely legitimate.
Let me just drop in some practical advice here. There are 1001 places that are willing to teach you to drive. That is not the problem. The problem is getting a test date. Here are the simple facts. The DVSA simply does not have enough examiners. Its an issue all training providers face every day. Common sense now comes into play. If you do your training at a DVSA test centre, do you think that you would have more or less chance of getting dates? lol exactly.
On the money front, its worth asking your training provider if you are eligible for a grant. There are lots of grants floating around that any professional training centre will know about.
Next, look at their facilities. Is it a yard, a field or a full on training site.
Automatic or manual? if you learn in an auto, that’s all you can drive. Learn in a manual and you can drive both.
Now I am not about to be cheap and try to drop in an advert for me, so all I will say is this. If the provider you are thinking about looks dodgy, walk away.
Any advice or help I can give I will be happy to help.
