Nice back drop Dave, is it in the Wye valley ? Have you any pictures of John Jones kit ? it always looked tidy.
We used him when we were constructing 48" gas pipeline over the Brecon Beacons couple of years ago.

Hi Big Al,
That pic is taken at Stanner, right on the Welsh Border at Ken’s Kington yard. Their main yard is near Hereford at the premises that Dave Neville & Son’s operated from. Lee bought Dave Nevilles business a few years ago.
I haven’t any pics of John Jones kit,his Dad Wesley’s Ford Cargo is pictured on the Welsh Border thread, haven’t seen any of John’s when we have had a camera with us,but will get a pic sometime. A lot of blokes I know were working on, or hauling to the gas pipeline,it just shows what can be done if the money and application is shown in this country, its a long way from Milford Haven to Tirley Glos as you know, but they did it,can’t understand why they don’t crack on with more big jobs instead of talking about them. Oh well rant over, put the soapbox away now. :unamused:
Cheers Dave.

I would guess that its the KTH yard at Stanner (B4594 jct.) on the A44 near Kington.

HI Loggo,
Exactly right, pic taken back in the early nineties, just after they bought the place.
Cheers Dave.

cheer`s Fin

Hi Fin,
I have seen the lowloader with the FH,i take it thats a different Phil Preece to the one that runs the smart Scania.
Cheers Dave.

ah yeh thats right Dave Phil Preece also run`s as Hereford Lowloaders and the other Phil does the tipper work

Fin, Is that Montague’s yard at Preston on Wye  ,looks to be a bit of plant around.
Cheers Dave.

It was at mr Dale`s farm behind the Yew Tree pub do you know where i mean Dave?

Hi Fin,
No I can’t say that I do,its not a village that Ive been to much, never had no reason to go there, been through there maybe half a dozen times in forty odd years,go from Bridge Sollers to Madley and Bredwardine to Madley a lot over the years, but not to Preston much. I do know Bill Montague from there, also remember FJ Williams of Preston On Wye having lorries.
Cheers Dave.

me grandparents moved from opposite the sun pub at winforton to preston in the early 8os, me an me brother used have hours fun down at the other william`s with the plant, there used to be a field full of lorries in the undergrowth tryin to make out they once belonged to and what makes they were

There was a very good transport cafe at Winforton until the 70’s,your folk must have lived right by it,if you were opposite the Sun Fin.
Cheers Dave.
