I got endorsement on my licence for 3/three/ trailers pulled by one truck, so ■■■■ off you…
P.S. To be honest multi drop van driving and class 2 is a lot heavier, harder and frustrating job to do then class 1 from one point to another.

Bugger that, 15 drops on C. Tomorrow I’ve got 3 drops and 2 collections and one of them is at the same place as my first drop.
Blimey, that’s a lot of stress for the sake of half an hour. I love how people think the law is the definitive answer, I.e once you’ve had 11 off you couldn’t possibly be tired, but have 10 and a half off and they must be slave drivers!
1/2 hour extra in bed for 6 months of no work due to playing the ■■■■ on a zero hours contract
Yep defiantly worked out well not lol

I do that on Class 1 mate, but the drops are generally closer together or grouped into clusters. The Class 2 pallet guys generally drive further drop to drop doing the ones we can’t get in, or are too much of a balls ache… And I NEVER bin off a drop and write on the ticket “Rigid”, to be done the next day!
My biggest bugbear doing this type of work is that you can get a trailer working all nice and easy to operate, and then you come in the next day to find a tramper robbed it!
I must agree with Harry on this, as long as its legal, they can ask you to come in at whatever time they need you…thats transport i`m afraid…but its your choice whether you choose to work…or not work, i used to refuse to take a 9 off and the company accepted that.
Personally, if I really felt the extra half hour would make the difference I’d just have half an hour on the bunk when I got to work and get paid for it, even if they noticed it’d not bother them as much as kicking up a stink about it.
To the op it’s your licence your lively hood if you are tired refuse to reduce hrs to protect licence if you have accident tell cops you were tired you are to blame so if you want 11 off take 11 tell planners health and safety comes first it’s my licence not yours if they don’t like it move on too many arse lickers on scared off loosing job, scared to stand up to planners because of them this industry is ■■■■■■
Punchy Dan:
Class 1 or class 2 it’s neither here nor there ,I’d sooner drive my 6 wheeler any day over an artic ,I am taxed 44 tonne so I can wave my willy when ever I want fact is when I have to it doesn’t pay enough .but these drivers who give it a go and don’t like it seem to slate other drivers like they have become a cut above , there are many many different driving jobs ,they are not all multi drop or trapping or involve wearing hi vis or an ear piece or getting up at silly o’clock .
I get up at silly oclock at times, my choice though… …but no poncy hi vis or ear piece
Re class 1 or 2, i too dont understand slating someone who doesnt have the almighty class1 and think theyre a cut above

100% correct. Nine hours should only be for trampers! and while we’re at it, the bunk should only be used for napping. If you ever run out of hours, it’ll be at a Travel-Inn or similar, including supper and breakfast, not ■■■■■■■ and ■■■■■■■■ in a carrier bag in a layby. One of our lad’s billed the company for a stay in a Hilton hotel, with Union backing. They duly paid.

Which is why every firm should keep an old leyland or similar to put the zb Union type driver on to force them out the job when needed ,cut down on the unfair dismissal costs.
The willy waving “Get a class 1 licence” brigade are out in force again. I have one, don’t use it, don’t wanna use it. Hated driving them from day 1. Love having the freedom of my Sprinter van to go anywhere I like once the delivery is done. I certainly don’t do multi-drops, those days are loooong gone. But I have been flexible with employers in the past, more than flexible to some. Been reliable as a Swiss watch, only to have them take the ■■■■ at the end of the day. I earn more doing this than I got for class 1 work with that particular employer… So ■■■■■■■■ to that malarky.
I like the look of embarrassment on puddle jumper’s faces when they pull into the MSA truck park.
Something akin to a tramp walking in to a wine bar, they just don’t belong.

Its just the insecurity, probably also jealous of the trucker who spent 6k on getting a bigger c0ck. I also have a class 1 and have had for over 25 years and have my National CPC and been a transport manager for over 20 years and now work with a 3.5t van and also earn more than the vast majority of drivers doing a job that I enjoy in a relaxed comfortable vehicle, working when I want with far less restrictions, of course I could always jump back into the rat race of multi drop work and RDC ■■■■■■■■ and willy waving for less money but I’d need a lobotomy first
I admire a driver with principles, I admire the fact that there are certain things they WILL NOT do such as reducing breaks. I too think I have principles in that area, I do however recognise that principles sometimes do not put food on the table and therefore I sometimes need to box clever! In the op’s case if it had been me in his situation I’d have agreed to the 04.30 start and then “slept in” and arrived at 05.00. Net result would be some dirty looks or comments from the office, but more importantly the op would receive his/her wages for the day and continue to receive them for the following days.
More than one way to skin a cat you know.
Sweep steer is correct 9 should be for trampers only, time you travel home ,shower supper unwind, how many hrs sleep you getting some of you lot should wake smell the coffee is I sai bottles industry ■■■■■■ cos u ■■■■■ not standing up to planners lol
A tricky one this.
Although the OP showed his true crybaby / keyboard warrior colours later on in this thread, taking his original post at face value its fair to object to a reduced daily rest if tired (even if it is only 30 minutes it still counts as a 9 reduction).
But one has to balance that out with loss of employment risk, so although drivers should be supported for sticking to their guns we all know the regs and reduced rests are a probability, I remember when you could have 8 hours off.
I do agree reduced rest periods should apply only if nighting out but then getting into this game in the first place may not be the OPs best decision.
If it was me I would act daft and say I had car trouble as in I car get out of bed (one for the brummys).
