you asked wether this was legal and got the answer. I dont agree with it though, it seems you are a day driver and imho a day driver should have 12 hours break, I personally dont work via planners i do the job given to me with the start times i see fit.
its not so bad when you carry your bed behind you but its about time that the rules are changed to incorporate this.
it is funny how many are maxing there working week out or bending over to earn a wage.

Well the short answer is yes, if you can do it within drivers’ hours rules, they can require you to start at 0430. In fact, they can require you to start at 0300 if they want. You of course have the right to refuse to do this, e.g. on the grounds that you are tired, but the legal position is that you would be refusing to carry out a reasonable instruction. I’m not saying I agree with this, but legally that’s the way it is.
But if they honour it for other drivers (happened to 2 lads i was in with before I left). They were given 4.30. refused and said they’d be in at 5. So as a company surely they have to be consistant?
Plus I’ve refused this many times over my time there and its never been a problem. Just adjusted to 11 hours from my finish. But this time a planner has threatened me. And then been backed up by Ops who dont want to admit he was wrong as they’d have to deal with it.
Take the load for a ride round the block, then take it back and tell them you changed your mind!!! But find another job first.
I`m really loving this!!!
So gald I don`t work as a real trucker anymore!!!
Im a big pu$$y.
04.30am start. YOU GOT NO CHANCE. Kiss it.
07.45 to 1600pm finish and half day friday. 37 hours a week.
You lads keep chasing the dollar. Good LUCK to you all.
Real truckers have class 1.
Your signature and the fact you only passed class 2 in 05 says it all .

And still no class 1.
Not having a class1 doesn’t make anyone less of a driver than anyone else, unless you think your somehow superior … in regards to the OP, your onto a loser, Transport is not a cushy squidgy, feel nice job, your at the sharp end, where margins are tight and everyone is pushed to turn a profit, as a driver your at the bottom of the food chain- being awkward over being asked to do something legal will only lead to you getting the worst shifts, or no calls to come in at all. If you had said you were knackered , and passed the attitude test then this would have probably never become an issue. sometimes you get treated as your attitude deserves.
I AM superior to truckerdumbo. Do you know why? Because I don’t come on here laughing at drivers who have to work lots of hours in order to take care of their family.

“Work life balance…?”
“Take care of their family”

In my experience Class 2 is a pain in the arse though, “Here’s your paperwork driver, you’ve got 73 drops today” sort of thing.
Strange that…because I am sat at home on my lappy while Mrs B and my lad are discussing the merits of a dancing dinosaur on Britains Got Talent.
Do me a favour though mate, empty my bin for me tomorrow while I am driving a proper truck.
Class 1 or class 2 it’s neither here nor there ,I’d sooner drive my 6 wheeler any day over an artic ,I am taxed 44 tonne so I can wave my willy when ever I want fact is when I have to it doesn’t pay enough .but these drivers who give it a go and don’t like it seem to slate other drivers like they have become a cut above , there are many many different driving jobs ,they are not all multi drop or trapping or involve wearing hi vis or an ear piece or getting up at silly o’clock .
Christ! Beaver’s caught a forum manager
Bloody hell mate. Now everyones escaped the keep net…
Never mind, there’s always another time.

That’s Class B vans mate, the likes of DHL, Yodel, PDP, etc…
Oversized Class C VANS are more like 15, or maybe 20 drops at the max on pallets with the odd package, as that’s your bed maxed out anyway… It’s the tail lift and and pushing pallet trucks that’s the pain in the arse!
