DeanB - I really appreciate you scanning the articles and posting them on here. Really nice to see how things have changed. I “blame” the whippersnapper for getting me more interested in the heavies. Maybe, I should be grateful because it is rather an interesting part of haulage.
Regards
Johnny
No worries Johnny, i didnt think anyone was reading them !
Heres another one from 1987 !
Good article Dean! They sure got some strange set ups over there eh?
Thanks for posting it!

Cheers Danne, just trying to keep it interesting for everyone
As for the Swedish goddess, her translation capabilities weren’t no longer required (thanks to Dean)… but sending her away felt somewhat wrong as well, so I just propositioned her the comfort of my bunk…which she kindly refused… story of my life…
My brother and I were looking into going to a GnR gig over here, but the prices they charged were absolutely beyond reason…and it was sold out in a blink of an eye, that didn’t helped much either Going to see Metallica in September though, looking forward to that!
Cheers Dean for posting that article, took me right back to me childhood, had a model of that same Peterbilt, haven’t got the slightest idea where it is now though… Never could put me finger on the axle configurations the yanks use…why make it simple eh.
Aye, saw that mighty Crusader mate, cheers! Still busy with the kitchen towel…(er…this might be a bit too much info eh )
Remember driving on some of the “scenic” routes in the south of France, the DN7 from Frejus towards Cannes to be more specific, how on earth the authorities thought that was a suitable CAT route beats me, but I reckon it was only a good thing that you only were allowed to drive there at night…so you couldn’t see how far the drop was if thing’s went belly up like!

Nice find. I was in India for 3 months and saw many unusual/creative ways of loading lorries that would make your hair stand on end. I didn’t see any low loaders though.

What? You’re going to a Metallica gig with your missus? How romantic mate If you’ve never been to a gig of those lads before, make sure you’ve got some earplugs it’s not as bad as a Motorhead gig though, they did send me back home with me ears bleeding…
